UPDATE: 3 days have passed, and, to my knowledge, nobody at NIH or HHS has commented on whether the indictment of David Morens affects Jeff Taubenberger’s status as Acting Director of NIAID.

It is hard to see how the current director of NIAID, Jeffrey Taubenberger, can remain in that role given that he co-authored the paper identified in today’s indictment of Fauci’s senior adviser David Morens as part of the conspiracy, with another co-author also named as a co-conspirator.

This pretty much sums up everything that’s wrong with public discourse right now. Here’s someone who appears educated, yet has no grasp of the underlying facts. Debate has to be based on a shared understanding of facts, and it is an established fact that Fauci lied to Congress.

We often blame “coddling” for creating weak, dependent kids. But Maté says the problem isn’t too much love — it’s anxious love. Parents who coddle out of their own fear and unmet needs pass that anxiety onto their children.
A long-term study he cites found that kids who were super loved by their mothers actually turned out to be the most independent, successful, and self-actualized adults 35 years later.
Modern parenting is full of guilt and overcompensation. This distinction between loving your kids vs projecting your anxiety onto them is huge.
This one really made sense to me. I’ve seen parents who smother their kids out of their own fear, and kids who were genuinely cherished and secure grow up strong. Love itself isn’t the problem — fear wearing the mask of love is.
Do you think we’re over-coddling kids today, or are we mostly seeing anxious parenting in disguise?

Starting in the early 2000s, Anthony Fauci used the money he controlled as NIAID director to fund the creation of a bioweapons research ecosystem embedded within universities across the US. As a result, bioweapons research (including dangerous gain-of-function research) has become normalized as basic research in virology. The bioweapons research ecosystem built by Fauci includes Ralph Baric’s lab. One way Fauci attempted to deflect attention from his role in creating the bioweapons research ecosystem that (predictably) resulted in a lab-generated pandemic was to minimize the small amount of funding the NIH gave to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. In the clip below, Fauci compares it to “pencil dust" and laughs.

Ralph Baric has never answered this question satisfactorily: Why did he never inform pandemic leaders that his lab and Wuhan bat scientist Shi Zhengli had submitted a proposal to genetically engineer a coronavirus with a furin cleavage site two years before a pandemic caused by a coronavirus with a furin cleavage site erupted in Wuhan, China? Adding a furin cleavage site is a gain-of-function experiment and may be one of the reasons COVID-19 became able to infect humans! Baric’s withholding of this knowledge prevented scientists from realizing early on that COVID-19 was not a typical animal virus that often infects humans poorly, but was likely a coronavirus purposefully engineered to infect humans. Withholding knowledge of these proposed experiments allowed Fauci et al. to cover up his approval of NIH funding for gain-of-function experiments in Wuhan and to deceptively shift blame to the “wet market.” The cover-up would have been less successful had Ralph Baric revealed that scientists in Wuhan were seeking funding for these gain-of-function experiments. realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2026/…

As people are becoming token poor, I hope they discover that the chatbots are reasonably good at writing #Perl and that one can fit lots of tasks on a limited token budget using the expressiveness of the language.

AI demand is real but economics are distorted by subsidies.
Infra requires insane capex + debt.
Pricing is not sustainable long-term if burn rate is $8-$13 of compute for every $1 of revenue.
If subsidies disappear, usage drops or pricing rises and demand normalizes.
That’s a multiple compression risk, not just earnings risk.
But in the short term AI stocks can still rip harder because liquidity > logic.
