I’m thrilled to share that I have been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship at the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge, to work on “The Local Environments of Supernova Siblings”, starting in September! 🌟Thank you to everyone who has supported me! 🌌

Pan across the sharpest view yet of a lenticular galaxy 60 million light-years from Earth 👀 these galaxies have an elliptical shape and ill-defined spiral arms.

In this program, I am investigating a sample of nearby SNe Ia siblings to see if sub-galactic differences in their environments provide the answer to improve SNe Ia standardisation for cosmology! Stay tuned for results soon! 🧵5/5

Thank you to the NASA/ESA team for featuring my HST data of NGC 4753 for picture of the week! 🌌#supernova 🧵1/5
European Space Agency@esa

📷 This NASA/ESA @HUBBLE_space telescope image shows a breathtaking view of the galaxy NGC 4753 and its complex dust structures. This galaxy is a lenticular galaxy, meaning it has an elliptical shape and ill-defined spiral arms. It is believed to have formed from a galaxy merging with a nearby smaller galaxy creating these distinct dust lanes around the centre.

We did it! Today we released the Dark Energy Survey @theDESurvey supernova cosmology results!!! A massive effort from many people. This has been the prime focus of my research for the last decade, and it was an honour to co-lead this working group. What did we find?.... a 🧵

@CatieSlaughts As a postdoc, we had an undergraduate open day for new students take place in the seminar room we have our lunches in, and I'm not sure which is worse: that someone assumed that one of the PhD students was a high schooler, or that they assumed I was her father!

It’s hard to overstate what impact #JWST is going to have on science, astronomy & our understanding of the universe. Incredible images. Huge congratulations to the international team that has made this possible.

10 years ago, a teacher at my sixth form suggested I do a Chemistry degree instead of Physics as it was the more “Feminine” science… it seems society hasn’t changed🙄
Dr Jess Wade liked it here once@jesswade

“Physics isn’t something that girls tend to fancy. They don’t want to do it. They don’t like it… There’s a lot of hard maths in there that they don’t want to do.” 🤦🏻‍♀️ @Miss_Snuffy, UK Government Social Mobility Commission Chair #WomenInSTEM parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/f1…
