@mohpnep I wonder who these 100 people are that are in quarantine, while almost all people with #omicron like symptoms are working in offices while mostly infectious.

@profmiketoole @TimLonghurst @NSWHealth @BradHazzard Also, the denominator population in recent PCR tests may be changing frequently due to changing recommendations to get tested and the population preferring to test at home using RAT. This makes % positivity trend difficult to compare over time.

3rd Wave in #Nepal — we have assumed, it’s #Omicron. But are we sure ?? Fact: 1 week ago it was only 22 %.To be sure, it’s time to recheck “S-Gene dropout” again. If the S-gene dropout percentage is proportionately increasing, it is Omicron. If not, it could also be the #Delta !

@IndiaToday The most useless sentence in Indian news that I am reading recently is the Omicron tally #. Is it not that almost all cases of SARS COV 2 cases now in India are Omicron? @IndiaToday

Serious adverse event reported in phase 3 ChAdOx1 trial leading to pause in recruitment. Will be important to know nature, timing and relatedness of AE to vaccine. statnews.com/2020/09/08/ast…

It's an honour to be the 17th President of @ASIDANZ . ASID is the peak Australian body for infectious diseases physicians and clinical microbiologists, but includes many members from other disciplines and specialties with an interest in clinical infectious diseases.

A brief thread about what might be coming up in Australia to control #COVID19. I'll emphasise that what interventions are likely to work depend very much on the situation at the time, and not all are being considered in the near future, or even at all.

Had a funny experience this morning. I was asked to talk about coronavirus - the global situation, correcting myths - on a national morning TV show by our state health department. #COVID19
