Following the Gorton and Denton by-election, we polled residents on behalf of Datapraxis to understand the dynamics leading to the historic result. Survation found: • Just over half of voters (53%) decided who they would vote for in the last two weeks of the campaign • Two-fifths (41%) of Labour voters considered voting for Hannah Spencer, whilst a third (36%) of Greens thought about voting for Angeliki Stogia • Had Andy Burnham been allowed to stand, we estimate he would have taken two-fifths (43%) of Spencer's voters and almost a fifth (17%) of Goodwin's We go through the results in LabourList: labourlist.org/2026/03/the-by… 8/8

New analysis of our Gorton and Denton post-by-election poll for @DatapraxisEU is now in @LabourList👇 Key findings: - 60% of Goodwin voters had decided who they would vote for soon after the by-election was announced, compared to just 37% of Stogia's supporters and 44% of Spencer's - Reform UK voters were also more likely to be unwavering, with 70% never considering voting for another candidate during the campaign - Had Burnham been the Labour candidate, he could have won 43% of Spencer's votes and 17% of Goodwin's Our data suggests Labour's decision to block Burnham split the progressive vote, with major implications.
