The fighter yelling “Michelle Obama is a man,” at an official White House event to honor America is utterly unacceptable and the administration should denounced it in no uncertain terms.

Carrying a knife doesn’t automatically prove intent to kill. By that logic, anyone who carries a pocketknife, firearm, or other legal means of protection is walking around looking for someone to kill. Intent is determined by the totality of the circumstances, not by possession alone. That’s exactly why people continue to debate this case.

Unfollow me if you have a problem with me being Black and not supporting Karmelo Anthony. I will not be intimidated by the threats I’ve been receiving from Karmelo Anthony supporters. He took someone else’s life. Austin Metcalf is never coming back. His family will never get to hug him again. His parents have to wake up every single day knowing their son is gone forever. I am not standing with someone based on skin color. I am a human being first. And one human being wrongly killed another human being. If you think Austin’s killing was no big deal because he was white, then you are straight-up racist. Wrong is wrong. I don’t care if the victim is white, Black, Hispanic, Asian, or anything else. A life was taken, and I will never celebrate that. I will never excuse that. And I will never be bullied into defending it.

@surrenderedflow @w_terrence All on Karmelo” suggests nobody else made any decisions that day. That’s not how real life works. People are responsible for their own actions, including the choices that escalate a confrontation. Accountability isn’t all-or-nothing.

@kynny23 @w_terrence What led to it was him….Karmelo and his knife he intentionally had on him as well as him antagonizing the situation on purpose. The end result was his intention.

No one is saying Austin’s life didn’t matter. It absolutely did, and his family’s loss is heartbreaking. What I don’t understand is why so many people talk as if the story began and ended with the stabbing. A tragedy can occur and we can still ask what led to it. If someone believes Karmelo was wrong, that’s their right. But why is it controversial to discuss the confrontation, the physical contact, and the events that happened before that moment? Justice isn’t just about the outcome. It’s also about understanding the circumstances that produced it.

@w_terrence Is this really happening? How could ANYONE much less many people stand proud in support of this murderer? He waited and pushed for the opportunity to gut this kid….or whichever one of them he could get to react…
