"The secret of being happy consists of knowing how to enjoy yourself—enjoy being at table, in bed; enjoy standing up, sitting down; enjoy the nearest ray of sunshine, the slightest bit of landscape. In other words, love everything." ~ Gustave Flaubert 🎨 Henri Matisse

@MadameGilflurt Saw this beautiful gown when it was displayed in a jewellery store in central San Francisco in 2002. I was just there on holiday and popped in when I saw the display. It is absolutely stunning in real life. She must have been quite breathtaking in it.

@Merici502525 @celemax21 So true for me also. I am processing the huge trauma of my parent´s divorce now and I am in my 50s. I don´t think its a black and white solution. Disfunction in a family is often generational and there are no quick fixes.

@celemax21 By the way, Don't be fooled by the "Dr" in front of her name. The kids will grieve the divorce at every new developmental stage they go through. You'll need to help them through that.

“Divorce hurts the kids.” So does staying in a toxic marriage. Children can recover from a divorce. It’s harder to recover from witnessing abuse or neglect between parents in their home.

Today marks the anniversary of Kristallnacht, or the "Night of Broken Glass," which took place on November 9, 1938. In remembrance, we joined a group in our neighborhood to clean Stolpersteine — small brass plaques embedded in the pavement that honor the memory of victims of the Holocaust. Each plaque is placed in front of the last known residence of an individual who was persecuted by the Nazis.

@BookLadyKaty I wonder if comics can´t be tested on the accelerated reader website? No test, no data for schools. It kills kids joy of reading what they want and when they want. The questions are rigid and it becomes a task. No more☹️

My ten-year-old son has been told by his teachers that he can't take comics or manga in to read as they "aren't proper books" and they "won't help him develop his reading skills". Like, WTAF? This is why children fall out of love with reading, and it's utterly heartbreaking.

I do love this time of year, when the last few beech leaves cling to the tree and shine like tiny specks of gold in a painting by Gustav Klimt.

Many people assume I am talking about the leisure activity of a few housewives when I say that I study the history of lacemaking… no, it was a massive, international labor network of girls & women that major regional economies were dependent on. And it’s not an anomaly

I get it, 1970s hairstyles were horrifying, but come on. If you're going to make a film about something that really happened and we actually have the tv footage of... how can you fail to get the look right? Did they even try? From the Netflix show 'Woman of the Hour':

Happy 65th birthday, Guggenheim! 🎉✨ On October 21, 1959, the museum opened its doors, with thousands flocking to Fifth Avenue. The film “Buildings & Crowd” captured the buzz as visitors experienced the iconic space and works by Arp, Brancusi, Chagall, Kandinsky, and more. 🌀🖼️ #Guggenheim65

@garcia_elline @arghavan_salles So sorry to read this. Traumatic births are at least being talked about now. I had a back to back birth and a lot of damage was done. My lower spine was also really weakened after an excrutiating birth. I understand your screams. Hope you are recovering.

@arghavan_salles Oh, all my epidurals wore off when having my 10 pound son. They had to stop the maternity tours and put me in a special room because my screams could be heard everywhere. Torn rectal tissue and broken tailbone. PTSD afterwards.
