This is why, w my PhD, I pursued a job working in a DSO. So I can use research! benchmarking across peer institutions! to highlight where the systems are broken and what we can fix immediately, and in the long term.

If you work in student disability services or the disability services office, it is your *responsibility* to push the system to be better. Do not be complacent. Do not settle. If compliance is the bar, the bar is on the floor. Not willing to do this? You're in the wrong job.

We need to talk about how often disabled instructors, attempting to provide radical access with flexible deadlines & participation requirements, wind up with their courses deprioritized by students who are desperately trying to shoulder other instructors’ hostile pedagogies.

I've spent more than 5 yrs documenting US politics on here. My archives contain video clips/threads of just about every big political event that's happened since the early days of the Trump WH. It didn't occur to me until very recently that all that could just be lost. So it goes

If you're a disabled or high risk scholars who can't or doesn't want to network over dinner or drinks at every major conference and campus event - that's cool. I'd love to network virtually. And I'd be happy to think up more accessible networking opportunities. 1/2

In 7th grade, my friends and I convinced a large number of students to put the name “Heywood Jablome” in the school raffle and when the principal read the name in the gym, we all screamed for five straight minutes. Everyone got a detention. That’s how Twitter feels now.

It would’ve been really easy for the Fetterman campaign to lean into ableism after his stroke, And instead he and the campaign addressed the reality that millions of Pennsylvanians and Americans have had health crises, just like he did, and deserve the life saving care he got —

Makeup being “professional” is so weird. It’s like “please complete a painting before work every day. Also the paint is super expensive and the canvas is your face.”

@SueReviews They literally looked at levels of hearing loss and were like, yeah, that’s the ticket. You got mild autism. You got moderate autism. You got severe to profound autism. You got autism with chips n dips.
