@BOSSportsGordo I’d really hate for Breslow to be the fall guy if the Sox finish .500 this year. He’s working within a strict budget and philosophy set by Henry at his hiring. If Henry wants to be the Rays with a little more money then he needs to be prepared for some bumps along the way.

@Bergeron_MLB Ive been thinking of prospect based trades for a Paredes/Hoerner bat and I agree I don’t think Romero goes in this situation. Sending someone on the 40 may be better. An offer around Juan Valera, Enddy Azocar with David Hamilton should be able to get Paredes and say Steven Okert.

A separate thought reflecting on the prospect of trading Mikey Romero from a weaker farm system of position prospects: that’s why you bring in an IKF and push the Sogards/Hamiltons of the world into option depth. You don’t have that many new faces ready to take those roles rn.

Is there a world where something like this is enticing enough for the Cubs? The Red Sox also have Kyson Witherspoon if they want to crank it up a notch without touching Tolle or Early.

@EdHand89 Other than last year, he hits lefties very well. Not a bad player to throw into the mix at all.

If the Red Sox do go the route of free agency for their last infielder, my top choice would be Luis Rengifo. Highest ceiling left, most versatile. Switch-hitter. Fast. If he's healthy there's real 20/20 potential. Coming off a down year with plenty of incentive to prove himself.

@HebHammer94 Craig hires Derek Falvey tomorrow and then trade Connelly Early and Mikey Romero for Luke Keaschall on Monday?

Hmmm, so… here are some 2B and/or 3B names with varying levels of availability: •Ketel Marte •Nico Hoerner •Matt Shaw •Brendan Donovan •Xavier Edwards •Otto Lopez •Ezequiel Tovar •Zack Gelof •Bryson Stott •Caleb Durbin •Josh Jung •Ramon Urias (FA) Anyone else?

There has been a sense in the industry that the Red Sox are now prioritizing defense ahead of power in their search for an infielder, according to @alexspeier.

@EdHand89 Bennett Sousa is a name I’d like to see come back with Paredes. Sox wouldn’t have to sign a lefty with CBT space they don’t really have right now. Bello for Paredes and at least Sousa back would only raise the SOX CBT by about 1.5 mil more and your offseason would be over.

For whatever it's worth, I've heard from a few people that the Red Sox aren't moving Early or Tolle unless the return is something truly elite (think Hunter Greene). With the recent Paredes talk, I would suspect they're trying to move Harrison or Bello. I have also heard that they'd love to trade Bello but other teams aren't particularly interested. Reading between the lines, it seems like other teams have concerns about his work ethic. Doesn't mean it's true, just my read on it. Not sure if/where Duran fits in with this. Just logistically, it makes sense to try and turn one of the lefty outfielders into a righty infielder, and it obviously isn't going to be Anthony. Duran is very talented and controllable but also has a skillset that isn't known to age well and is viewed as something of a loose cannon. We'll see what happens. I've never been a big Paredes guy, but he does fit the bill as far as what the Red Sox lineup is in need of.

@HebHammer94 How about you get your lefty pen arm in the deal? Bello for Paredes, AJ Blubaugh and Bennett Sousa. Also, Dunks $5 Meal Deal is just one wakeup wrap now. We riot.

Sitting on a train headed to NYC overthinking about the Red Sox, per usual. I have some thoughts. Subject to change: •Nobody is going to want to face the Red Sox in the playoffs, if they get there. Crochet to Suarez to Gray is a nightmare to line-up against. I really like the rotation. •I think Brayan Bello is going to be traded. •Now that Alex Bregman is officially gonezo, the number one option (by far) is Ketel Marté, but a trade for him is very unlikely. And the price is probably prohibitively high. •Bo Bichette would be a great add despite the poor defense. His bat is good enough to justify the negatives. But I can’t imagine the Red Sox adding another big contract. Especially with the term Bichette will require. •Isaac Parades is a very good—probably underrated—ballplayer, but he’s a poor defender. That’s an issue for a team like the Red Sox who roster three of the top 10 GB% SPs. Still, I wouldn’t hate to see the Red Sox trade for him. But… •I’d prefer to see the Red Sox trade for a lesser offensive addition than Parades (Hoerner, Donovan, Stott) and lean into pitching and defense. At least this would amplify what should be the 2026 Red Sox’ biggest strength: run prevention. And they’d cost less than Parades. •There is no scenario in which I’d want the Red Sox to sign Eugenio Suarez. Good player but he’s going to compound the already existing strikeout issue and his defense has regressed a ton. He does have great aura though. •Totally fine with the Red Sox keeping Jarren Duran and having him share LF/DH with Roman Anthony. I think he’d be a very productive middle of the order bat, rather than a leadoff bat. Maybe taps into his power more with a full season in that role. •Red Sox still need a LHP to round out the bullpen. Doesn’t need to be sexy, just someone capable. Justin Wilson type arm.

In order to be all in with Run Prevention, you need to be able to catch the ball. Still need a bat that can defend

@LucilleBurdge How much do you wanna bet that Breslow asked Hoyer to hold off on the Bregman signing until Fanfest was over? 2 Stanley nickels?

@timbhealey Do they though? I think they’re signing Justin Wilson or Cionel Perez and calling it an offseason. Mayer/Romy/Sogard/Tristan Gray splitting 2nd and 3rd. Henry’s imposed budget intact. No long commitments to 30yr old players before the CBA is reworked. This is the Red Sox’ dream.

Yesterday, Alex Cora said today was the Red Sox' "first big meeting with the front office and the coaching staff" to talk about 2026, various players' roles, etc. Suffice to say they have a bit more offseason work to get done.

All I want for Christmas is Alex Bregman. I'm Jewish, he's Jewish, the person responsible for signing him is Jewish, but can't pass up a possible Christmas miracle, right? @PlayTessie #RedSox

@BOSSportsGordo I like the player, I'm ok with Dobbins being the headliner, but getting 8 mil to include Fajardo because they are "strapped for cash" is a big L

Red Sox giving up good talent in the name of saving $8M when they just traded Devers and opened up all that long term money is pretty lame, can’t lie. I get they have excess SP but you can use that to acquire something that wasn’t readily available for just $$$ in free agency.

@redsoxpayroll 8 mil doesn't seem like enough. I wrote up a deal that had the Sox getting 14 mil last week to get his AAV down to 14-15 mil and cover the buyout. Fajardo is a real loss only getting 8 mil back imo.
