@Scottrod_15 @BrandonJoe40008 I'm not %100 sure on the allodial title stuff. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that you have to go do paper work that someone else provided. In law all that should be needed is an unrebuted claim by living man.

@BrandonJoe40008 I've been researching obtaining land patents so the title doesn't split at closing, hence the reason you need a lawyer for closing. You receive the certificate of deed and the county retains the legal title. There is a process for getting allodial title but I have yet to succeed

I have a sneaking suspicion that, in the closing docs for a house, there is some kind of nexus created between you and the county... creating the relationship that makes property taxes and permitting necessary. Has anyone gotten a house over the last several years and has all their closing docs organized in maybe a Dropbox or Google Drive folder so that i can take a look? Or does anyone want to collect up and scan all their closing docs so i can take a look?
