the article about Neil Gaiman is horrifying. it really reiterates for me how women's oppression is enabled by the capitalist economy. most of the women Gaiman is alleged to have abused were financially dependent on him - a homeless nanny and a live-in groundskeeper.

@cannibality Haven’t finished the book about Lacks yet but it’s really good. Wake blew my mind and broke my heart. Utterly brilliant non fiction via graphic novel.

@RichardHills_ In your opinion Richard, what sort of effect will this have on *current* funding for libraries. Given libraries are places where people can freely gain access to knowledge (thereby increasing literacy levels), this is surely a threat to economic productivity (their lingo).

Government grinches are back to take your Santa parades, ANZAC commemorations, water quality programmes, funds for pest and weed removal, major events, grants for sports clubs, new libraries, support for business associations etc. If that’s incorrect, then what do they mean?
