@CcibChris The Thunderbird of the RAF. A beautiful plane. A relative of mine was on one of the blue steel squadrons when a Victor went off the runway into soft grass with the Nuke underneath it! The first thing he said to his crew as they ran to it was, 'Don't touch anything!'🤣

@DPJHodges I can't see Mr Burnham calling an election if he becomes PM. I can see labour getting a bounce and hammed up by many in the MSM. If Mr Burnham does not get elected, I'd say labour will continue to struggle and maybe an election in a year.

So Reform have gone from demanding an early election to desperately trying to stop one because they think they’ll lose. And they admit Andy Burnham really is so popular nationally he’ll be able to reverse Reform’s surge and win for Labour.
Matt Goodwin@GoodwinMJ

I think unless all patriotic voters unite behind Reform in Makerfield then Andy Burnham will win, call an early snap general election and put Britain under a hard left government until 2031. If you don’t want this to happen then vote Reform. mattgoodwin.org/p/a-prediction…

@DPJHodges I can think of a few things that might be a bit more concerning in British Politics Dan, than this blokes social media feed!

And these are the comments we know about. Like I said, it’s incredible that Reform still have not come up with a proper way of vetting their candidates. A few bad apples slipping through in local elections is one thing. But in a contest this high profile it’s staggering.
BBC Radio 4 Today@BBCr4today

“I’m not going to defend those comments.” Danny Kruger, Reform UK MP, says previous social media comments made by the party’s candidate in Makerfield were unacceptable but argues that the country has bigger problems to deal with.

@AdamShame3 @YesterdaysBrit1 My parents had a consul in the same colour! As a kid it seemed enormous sitting in the back! I've always liked them since and if one came my way today I'd probably buy it! That said I've never been able to tell the two models apart!🤣

@switch1050 @YesterdaysBrit1 In my comment, I toyed with the idea of putting Consul in brackets but in the end decided to stick with just Granada - even though somebody is bound to say it is, in fact, a Consul.

The Times have just released a new poll for the Makerfield by-election by Survation. Robert Kenyon is the only candidate who can stop Andy Burnham. This is a two horse race - nobody else comes close.

@NickBuckleyMBE Nope the vote was split because the so called Conservative Party in 2019 once elected acted like lib dems and half their voters realised that so either voted reform or didn't vote. If we all stick together and support reform today, Andy will lose biggly!

For all those who think splitting the vote is a bad thing and Restore should stand down in favour of Reform - remember that we only have this Labour government because Reform split the Tory vote. We only have a Scottish SNP government because of Reform splitting the vote. And all this is perfectly acceptable in a democracy. Reform are the last people to discuss splitting the vote. All political parties should stand in elections. Those who complain about splitting the vote really mean that you are too stupid to understand what you are doing, so choices must be taken away from you for the benefit of the country. We call this authoritarianism. Every single voter should vote for the party that they think is the best. Do not be scared into voting against parties. Vote for what you want to see in the future. And finally, it makes absolutely no different if Labour or Reform wins this by election. Nothing changes in parliament. Burnham will be just as bad as Starmer. One extra MP for Reform is meaningless. But if Restore wins, or does excellent, this could be a game change for the U.K.

@wheresmyvoice @WillKingston Yep I get that too, if you feel that way, but not this time Glen, if Burnham loses Labour will implode, I'd bet a national election in a year tops. if he wins the MSM will give labour a massive bounce and we will be stuck with a bad gov much longer! Could be wrong of course!😬

@switch1050 @WillKingston I understand the urgency mindset but as far as Restore are concerned it's a question of, "If not now, when?" At some point we have to make a stand and the Reform argument will be repeated at every vote.

@DPJHodges I'm old enough to remember life before 1997! Anybody involved in the Blair Government like Andy IMO is back to future! 1997 - 2010! Give me the Cones hot line and a Vauxhall Astra GTE 1980's any day of the week! 😁

People heaping a lot of praise on this piece. And it has some excellent insights. But at its heart is one gaping flaw. It reads as if Andy Burnham's journey began in Manchester. And completely ignores the fact he served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Culture Secretary and Health Secretary. This idea he is some political neophyte, unused to the cold, harsh realities of Westminster is silly.
Joshi Herrmann@joshi

I’ve been writing about Andy Burnham in Manchester for a while. We’ve had a few run-ins but I think he has qualities that many people don’t appreciate and weaknesses that spell trouble. I wrote this for @ManchesterMill - I hope it’s insightful and fair. manchestermill.co.uk/stop-looking-f…

@wheresmyvoice @WillKingston But nobody really knows exactly why and who pushed the Conservative Party in a soft left agenda. If Miss Braverman is to be believed she at least tried to stop it and she was vocal as a minister! It's all smoke and mirrors, but right now Reform are the best option to win!

@WillKingston Restore and Reform supporters in the main want the same things. They just can't agree on who is best to deliver them. I do not want Boris Johnson's cabinet trying to fix the mess they created.

@switch1050 @mcrstuart @Nigel_Farage @RobertJenrick We can book mark this chat and revisited it after the makerfield by election. Reform are not offering any change, so I’m unsure why anyone is voting for them. Are people voting for farage or reform policies?

@switch1050 @mcrstuart @Nigel_Farage @RobertJenrick Then vote for Restore. The Makerfield bi election will be a good heads up as to what way people will be looking to vote in the next GE. If the result are anywhere close to the result in Great Yarmouth the Reform should step aside

@Bobertina265176 @mcrstuart @Nigel_Farage @RobertJenrick I think the political landscape has changed a lot since then. I'm not particularly involved with Reform or any political party, although obviously a right kind of guy, but I just think that's the best option re this by election, everybody just keep the vote together!

@switch1050 @mcrstuart @Nigel_Farage @RobertJenrick No, the right thing would be for reform voters to vote restore. Reform voters split the vote with cons at last ejection and gave the win to Labour. Do the right thing and vote Restore. If GY is anything to go by then you guys need to practice what you preach
