Be honest with yourselves: Do the U.S. and Israel rely on the Strait of Hormuz? Not really! They barely use it. Punishing global markets thinking that this will eventually hurt the U.S. is extremely childish. We are not in 1970s anymore. Iran’s strategy is mindless. They are just prolonging their own losses. There will be too much left to rebuild and the U.S. would walk away with a little scratch. Iran’s policies have been brainless throughout. They haven’t gone nuke and therefore made themselves vulnerable to external aggression and their only leverage (SOH) doesn’t impact US-Israel meaningfully. Whether shirk needs clarification was never the point of disagreement. The point is that Farid’s framing says nothing about the “order” in which the debate must proceed; it simply puts a particular case on the table for judgment, and in these debates, any serious attempt to judge that case would necessarily involve clarifying what shirk is.
So your objection seems less about the substance of Farid’s proposal and more about how plainly it states the issue.

This is a strange response. The whole point of @Farid_0v’s framing is precisely to force both sides to clarify what shirk is. Calling the scenario “unfruitful,” when it’s doing exactly what you’re asking for, is a rather odd way of avoiding the pressure of the question.
If there’s a debate about whether a particular act counts as theft, that already requires both parties to bring out what theft is, what distinguishes it from other forms of wrongdoing, and why that case does or does not qualify. Simply pointing out that the question requires conceptual clarification adds very little, because giving that clarification is itself part of the answer.
