my son casually referred to him by his name instead of “Dad.” It wasn’t dramatic, just a small slip, but it changed everything. Since then, my partner has completely pulled back. No more check-ins, no more support. He literally stopped things he used to do without thinking. When I asked him about it, he simply said, “He has a father now.” Just like that. Years of love and consistency… reduced to silence. Now I find myself in the middle of it all trying to understand a man who feels replaced, and a son who feels like he’s done something wrong just for wanting to know where he comes from. And honestly, it’s hard not to feel disappointed. Because I keep wondering… was that love ever as unconditional as it seemed?

I saw builders delivering great products despite the market conditions. Mphahlele presented the concept at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, where the project received recognition from judges and education officials. Her invention highlights how young innovators are using technology to address real-world challenges, particularly around personal safety and rapid emergency communication.
