What if your games weren’t separate? Multiple genres. One progression system. Play anything. Progress everywhere. #gamedev #indiedev #gaming

@YahyaDanboos Leaning right on this one, feels a bit more punchy and readable in motion. Been running into similar stuff lately, readability matters more than I expected

@DesignLvLUp Do you think progression should stay inside one game loop, or can it work across multiple different modes? I’ve been testing shared progression across genres and it changes how players approach each mode.

A little update, started on a demo level (still WIP), going level progression in, stat system that tracks per level, data assets for each level for times, and a bunch of other stuff. #indiedev #gamedev Demoing the core loop of the game here. Still a lot to do.

@bjornornorn Yeah, once systems start interacting everything slows down a lot. Feels like complexity grows faster than expected. Great stride tho, looking forward to see how it turns up!

Björn Ottosson - making Island Architect
Started working on the dynamic water simulation for my relaxing building game today. Obviously quite a lot of work left, but it’s already working with overhangs and everything. Looking forward to making waterfalls more than just lines and making it possible to build aqueducts!

@WeirdBeluga Looks really clean. I'm very curious how you handle progression over longer sessions, especially when systems start stacking.

@novabrand Trying something a bit different, multiple game modes feeding one progression system. Still early, but here’s a clip:

The idea is simple: You don’t grind one game. You build your account across all of them. Different genres. Same progression. #gamedev #indiedev #gaming

Same currency across every mode. ARPG, puzzle, runner, strategy, and upcoming modes. Everything feeds one system.

Still rough in places, but the core loop is there.

What if all your games shared the same progression?
