I can understand a minister or shadow minister suffering from burnout and consequently returning to the back benches. But a backbench MP? With no formal responsibility other than voting? What is it that time is being taken out from? What is it that there is a ‘leave of absence’ from? MPs aren’t employees. Is this just a letter to say no surgeries for a few weeks?

@anon_opin It’s not working properly. I have a gps watch/step count. I walk a 5 mile dog walk route and it comes out at around 10k steps. Sometimes a little under. That’s nearly one and a half hours of constant walking.

Recently got a pedometer. 10,000 steps sounds like a lot but if I do something in the day, leave the house, I reach it very easily. It's actually a very low bar unless you are old or infirm.
