Wow that was a hard bug. I found that the shader I use for the ships and bases did not work outside the editor. So I resaved the compiled shaders and it was OK. I diff'd the files and found the shader had v1.1 rather than v3.0 in its data. No idea why or how.

Got dev system working on new laptop. Had to add a dx env variable to compile. Tried Deepest Blue. All the ships and stations are invisible. Can't see why. Tried a parallel run and examined data in the plot and seems identical. Tried editor and ok in that, uses same plot.

@level106 I want to use both laptops at once to test Deepest Blue multiplay. It's always a challenge getting thar connecting and through the firewalls. I had another laptop but that has a dodgy WiFi card and lan connector which I have to hold.

@t2_steve Nothing against the network method of migration between PCs, of course. But now I’m in a house served by two routers, with PCs with admin passwords I’ll frequently forget because I’ve been logging-in with a PIN for over a year.. The HDD method just serves me better. 😁

Just bought a new laptop. Spent half a day getting it to network to old laptop. Rebooted and it can't see it again. Both win11 same workgroup and user, discovery on. I am not impressed.

@MMcGee72 I set smb1 with powershell to get it working yesterday. It's annoying how it changes. On old laptop I had a set to stop it unsetting that. But new laptop doesn't recognise the do not unset parameter.

@t2_steve Check SMB version on the new laptop. I had to do some shenanigans to get a new laptop to see my NAS. IIRC I had to do change some registry settings

@t2_steve Buying a cabinet in real is a total nightmare.. Howdens is trade only .. b and q is confusing and wren don't want to sell you 1 unit ..it's like they don't want your business

Tried to buy a kitchen cab online. My credit card authorised via my fingerprint protected phone app. Then I got a phone calls which I ignored thinking it was a scam. DId not say who it was usually a telltale sign. Then an anon text not saying who it was, said bank would text.

The auth screen on the web even says we never call you to get you to authorise. Yet I authorised then they called me on home phone and mobile . Why not use the secure msg system on the app if they needed to check ?

By now really suspicious so went back to app. The trans was cancelled and my card blocked till I answer the suspicious text. No explanation even when I asked help. Had to text YES and start again. It seems their process invites scams as they look like scammers.

I've been recording the lead guitar for Andrew's title track.When I press record I lose my place in the music. I use a loop so I can get each section right. It's annoying when I do a perfect take but it has switched the record off. Its meant to go to overdub.

@STGshmups Thanks for that. As you can let the colpilots fly the ships it can be fun for those that aren't so good at pov flying. I use the copilots to earn me money to spend on ships to fight the Seiddab.

I can honestly say Deepest Blue is the most challenging piece of software I have ever worked on, and I have worked on some crazy difficult stuff. I wanted to push an average laptops to the limits like we did in the 8 bit days.
