When it comes to great English song writers David Sylvian is right up there. Hardly anyone knows this because the wankers in the media mocked him for years but his first few solo albums are masterpieces and his later improvised work is fascinating. Decent lyricist too.

@SkorpionUK Oh for sure. I'm afraid I can't get into kpop at all! Obscure esoteric weirdness is more my speed. I noticed a distinct turn away from electronic music in my listening (and composing) this year too, and a real need to engage with the physical playing of instruments.

@t_whiston _same_ on that last sentence, and amusingly enough I don't know even one of your suggestions (and I imagine vice versa).

It's my last day of work and I'm in a good mood, so once again I'll do a rundown of my favourite 10 albums this year. In no particular order. No playlist or streaming service links because streaming services can go die in a fire, buy direct from the artist where possible 1/
