When Tasila, EL's most known child, arrived from the US, she was just that - the new Kateks' daughter. Nothing to her name. EL had declared K2m in total assets. A short 7yrs later - EL, his wife, Tasila, Daliso, Chiyeso - kaya bana benangu - were swimming in eye popping wealth.

GHANAIAN President John Mahama’s state visit has culminated in successful conclusion of business transactions worth US$7 million between Zambian and Ghanaian fintech companies, as well as ongoing negotiations estimated at US$65 million. These transactions have significant potential to generate about 8,000 employment opportunities in both countries. During the Zambia-Ghana Business Forum yesterday, President Hakainde Hichilema said he has agreed with Mr Mahama that the two countries’ economies must run at a faster speed. He said the business sector should be in the forefront to drive this agenda. "I think it's important that you colleagues that have the skills, capital to some extent when we provide the environment don’t walk, run to heal Africa's disease,” Mr Hichilema said. To foster growth from all fronts, President Hichilema told Mr Mahama that Zambia has created the Public Private Dialogue Forum, which encourages the private sector to point out issues affecting them. The President said Zambia and Ghana’s focus on economic growth is aimed at bettering the lives of citizens, especially the youth. He said while one country may be way ahead of the other in certain areas, Ghana and Zambia are aligned in economic reforms that they are taking. "The African continent must wake up. We have woken up, President Mahama and I are awake. Very awake,” Mr Hichilema said. The head of State said Zambia and Ghana should continue seeking sustainable and mutually beneficial ventures, saying “we will be proud that our people are better off now than the way we found them”.

Luena, Moxico Province | Monumento da Paz Today in Luena, I laid a wreath at the Monumento da Paz. As Zambia’s Ambassador to Angola, I commend the Angolan people for choosing reconciliation, unity, and peace. This monument is a reminder of what a nation can become when it chooses peace. For me, this moment was also personal. I grew up in Chiwempala, where many Angolan families found refuge during the civil war. We went to school with boys and girls who had crossed the border seeking safety. Many of them are adults today, raising families of their own. Laying this wreath was a quiet prayer that their children, and ours, will never know the pain of war. That peace will remain the inheritance of the next generation. I would like to thank Moxico Vice-Governor Chinyama who welcomed me to the monument. Zambia maintains a consular presence in Luena and Consul-General Bornface Musumali and diplomatic staff accompanied me the wreath laying. Rev. Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future. As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, let’s honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.

Wishing @ssishuwa a Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas 🎄🎂! A countryman, UNZA and Oxford graduate, Stellenbosch Senior Lecturer in History and elected member of the University Council, Harvard Visiting Scholar, University of Cape Town Honorary Research Associate, Fellow of the UK Royal Historical Society, and author! 😊 I join the many voices urging SS recently to not shun political commentary. It may be uncomfortable for some, but it is an essential voice for others — and a vital sign of our democracy. I don’t agree with everything SS says. However, I’ve learned in recent years that in some cases, whether we “like” or “dislike” him depends on our alignment or non alignment with political power. I’ve seen the same people that celebrated him at one moment, condemn him at another, and those who once condemned him earlier, later celebrate him — many times for saying the same thing. Often, I have observed, he has not changed his stance on certain national matters; it is the change of some people’s positioning in the political arena which seem to suddenly make his commentary begin to feel uncomfortable. Whatever the case may be, he is a son of the soil and a true representation of #ZambiaKuChalo Enjoy your day, sir 🙌🏾

We waited by our inboxes from 11am when Judge Baguma was to give his ruling (by email) on @kizzabesigye1 bail application. He sent a directive at 4pm postponing the ruling to 29th December. No explanation. Total disrespect and insensitivity. We will overcome this injustice.
