@SiNister1080p Yo dude Sinister is a Chad and I'm not talking about gameplay!

I Think it's clear.....It was not, in fact, clear. Crimson outnumbered But we still fighting and holding the fort down :-)

@tactigamer Get some Ensure shakes lol
Can't imagine those taste good tho
English

@oklumberman I could pack it for sure but too lazy.
Was thinking something like Huel just so I'm getting calories and not losing weight and also not spending 13 bucks on fast food daily lol
English

@tactigamer I travel a lot and also hate stopping for food.
Probably not the healthiest solution but I recommend beef jerky and sandwiches in a collapsible cooler with freezer packs.
English

@tactigamer AI is such an umbrella term.. like devs still worked on it lol
I guess though a different set of devs worked on it to modify other devs work if that makes sense but it’s still cool, games could just not allow the feature if they want to protect an image 🤷♂️
English

Maybe a hard truth for some, but you can either accept AI is going to be in everything and use it to your advantage or you can sit in the corner and whine about it.
Anyway - I vibe coded my own app with Grok to save my time for my IRL work.

@tactigamer I dont want that realism through AI filters, i want accomplishment through actual development.
English

Wild to me that people are hating on this.
This is the real time "Photorealism" in video games that gamers have been attempting to capture through mods for over a decade.

AI will never understand fun. It will never have emotions.
Graphics won't help you make a good game. It doesn't matter how realistic it looks.
Gameplay mechanics and especially story are not things AI will be able to produce well.
The tools available are leveling the playing field for indie devs.
So get to work. Use your brain. Use your tools.
English

Completely see where you're coming from and as a friend, I obviously respect that.
I just seen it as a realistic - there's no turning back from all this. As a graphic designer, I don't think your work is going anywhere, but AI can be a way to speed up and refine your processes instead of remove you from the equation. Shading techniques in specific spots, removing mistakes with a circle and a prompt instead of having to "clone tool" it...I don't think you're going to be replaced but in my opinion you should start to explore how this stuff can help you and not see it as an enemy
To the healthcare point, we utilize a HIPAA compliant version called BastionGPT. This app I made is all run locally and grok gave me the code to build it and adjust it along the way so it's not patient info just floating in the nether, thankfully.
But the sooner you can utilize it to capitalize on your work or work flow, the better off you'll be and more future proof you'll become.
Just my two cents on it. Love ya man - hope the family is well
English

I'm very much against AI. You know this, I know this, and anyone who knows me and what I do should see it as no big shocker. My field and how I support my family relies on the permanent handicap/removal of AI from creative fields completely.
I used to be on the train of "just adapt and try to co-mingle with it" but I literally can not. Not only is it horrific for the planet but it is actively killing jobs in my field.
To see it used in the medical field however, I really have no clue how I feel. On one hand, it feels like it would be cool as an automation tool to help organize and prioritize patient needs. On the flip side of that, it's still an AI platform with information that's being siphoned to a data center somewhere you can't control (or at least to my knowledge).
I don't think the stance of "quit whining and adapt" is the right approach here brother. Adaptation, in this scenario, isn't the same as adapting to the weather or new surroundings, or even a new job. Instead, we're being asked to adapt to something that is REPLACING jobs and making things much for difficult for people who are creative and have excelled in their craft.

@d3thd33lr One of my favorites right now is "Cast n Chill" on my handheld. Relaxing game at the end of the day
English

@tactigamer Ayy I’ll just keep playing all the older games I’ve been enjoying
English

@MirelRanete Will they attempt to refine this or will they just accept it takes 2 GPUs nobody can afford for the rest of time?
English

@tactigamer Havr you thought about the image stability in fast-paced situations? Have you thought about VRAM hit?
This thing isn't just magically making games more beautiful. It will definitely be huge drawbacks.
The fact that they needed 2 5090s for this demo shows that this will be heavy
English

@tactigamer "Utilize the AI overhype for this slop technology or cry about it"
Is not even an argument so i guess youre right, you really didnt backtrack because you had no argument in the first place.
English

@NathanMitc44970 I'm not backtracking I'm giving an example from personal experience
English

@tactigamer This is what backtracking looks like.
Its always "AI is great this is why"
Getting mogged in the comments
Now its "Well its unstoppable so accept it"
English

@d3thd33lr That's the point though. They ARE going to try again - and refine it, make it better, bring down prices, bring down cost and power consumption.
It's only going to get better
English

@tactigamer That’s why we hate it. It looks like a sloppy ai filter and I really dislike this push for filters over genuine intentional art choices. Hard pass, try again.
English

@tactigamer people will cry about "artistic vision" but they have no problem with motion capture making animations instead of animators doing it frame by frame.
No problem with physics simulations doing all the lighting work.
No problem with photogrammetry just giving you real textures..
English

@Sokigarden For now. This is just V1 of this. It's only going to get more refined
English

@tactigamer But it doesn't even look realistic it just looks off. It looks like they slapped a "realistic" filter on it.
English

@tactigamer It looks worse. It's wild to me people don't realize the lighting in the background looks worse
English

@tobiassolem Wow I can't believe how it ruined Mario!
I bet it would totally give it a slop voice and make him sound like typical American, too - like a Chris Pratt or something!
El oh el
