I broke up with my lesbian ex because she cheated on me. when I started dating a mutual male friend a few months later, she sent me a barrage of abusive texts about how this is why she doesn’t date bisexuals. I pointed out she cheated, she said at least it was with a woman😅

@talasaurusrex Are lesbian relationships more prone to toxicity? A friend of mine is bi and both of her relationships with women ended up in violence. Apologies if its a bad question to ask. I have had very few interactions with the people in the community.

It goes without saying that women who speak about other women this way are unlikely to be safe spaces for victims or survivors of sexual assault. If they talk about consensual sex in such punitive terms they will likely respond to disclosures of sexual assault by blaming the victim for sleeping with a man in the first place.
That’s because the mandatory sister package to puritanical attitudes is a punitive culture. The logical extension of “sex with men is bad and makes you a traitorous cumrag” is that women who engage in it are responsible for the consequences; they’re already halfway there.
This is backed by research btw. Punitive views of sexuality have consistently been linked to higher rates of victim-blaming in cases of sexual violence.
