.@JohnBrittas Ji ! IMR in Uttar Pradesh has declined significantly since around 2016–17 (in the times of your friend @yadavakhilesh) — from about 50 to ~38 per 1,000 live births (In the times of @narendramodi & @myogiadityanath) JES deaths in eastern UP which were thousands in @yadavakhilesh’s ear are now ZERO. Btw as per NCRB Crime rate in India 2023, Crimes per lakh population of Uttar Pradesh is 335 and Kerala is 1,631. Kerala’s per-capita crime rate is nearly 5× higher. @smitaprakash
John Brittas@JohnBrittas

Out of every 1,000 births, Kerala loses just 5 kids—better than the USA’s 5.5. But in Uttar Pradesh, hailed as India’s “top double engine performer,” it’s a shocking 37. The national average? A dismal 25. So, tell me .. What gems of wisdom should Kerala borrow from UP’s playbook? What life lessons can Malayalis grab from Modi’s “model” Gujarat? And what profound insights await us from the BJP’s grand vision?

@kartik_kannan Two wrongs don't make right. Every 2nd post of yours is reacting to any critique of this regime. Where is the Test cricket fund which jay shah announced on day 1 of his swearing. What is the fan experience of watching a game in India? Quality of cricket now?

Is India 'bullying' or simply bearing the weight of global cricket's future? Mukul Kesavan’s 'King Kong' view misses the forest for the trees. Without the 'Indian Engine,' the 2026 T20WC wouldn't be a 20-team celebration—it would be a dying product. Let’s look at the resource math, not just the rhetoric. I happen to read this piece. You can criticise the BCCI, but you must be mindful of applying the same yardstick to other countries as well. The article suggests the BCCI’s power is a "nakedly coercive juggernaut. India isn't just a consumer of power but the primary provider of the game's "Oxygen" India generates over 70% of ICC revenues. In any other global industry, the primary stakeholder naturally takes a leadership role in governance This capital doesn't just stay in Mumbai; it funds the development of Associate nations and women's cricket globally. Without the "Indian Engine," the financial ecosystem for teams like Zimbabwe or Nepal—who have provided the 2026 World Cup's best stories—would likely collapse. The piece also critiques the "toxins" of franchise cricket. From the way, I see it, the IPL and the proliferation of Indian-owned leagues have actually democratized the sport for players, making it a worthwhile career option. Before the "Indian influence," a cricketer's livelihood was at the mercy of their national board. Today, a player from the West Indies or Namibia can achieve financial security through global leagues. I met Carlos Brathwaite recently in Goa, and this is the exact point we spoke on, how he is able to look at leagues for his income, instead of being on a 80K USD contract for the West Indies. The author highlights historic instances of bullying but ignores the "Weighting" of India’s contributions to struggling boards. The article mentions the 1996 joint tour to Sri Lanka during the civil war. That wasn't an isolated event; India has consistently been the first to tour nations like Zimbabwe or South Africa (post-apartheid) to help rebuild their commercial viability. The 2026 Super 8 qualification of Zimbabwe proves that "Indian influence" hasn't stifled others; it has provided a more lucrative stage for the world to perform on. Politics and sport are entwined globally (from the Ashes to the Olympics). Singling out India ignores the historical hegemony of the "Old Guard" and the current reality of who is actually growing the game.

The strongest 3 arguments for India playing Pakistan in Asia Cup 1. Did we not participate in the SCO in spite of Pakistan's presence? 2. Did Neeraj Chopra not compete against Arshad Nadeem in Tokyo? 3. Have we not already avenged Pahalgam with Op Sindoor? Well, 1. We did not have a bilateral in Tianjin. Pakistan's presence didn't matter. Pakistan exists so it will be present in places where we too are. Like your neighbour goes to the same grocery store but you don't say hi to him because he is an asshole. 2. Neeraj did not play against Nadeem. That sport doesn't pit one against the other like cricket or hockey does. No interaction needed. It's like you and that rubbish fella standing in the same queue at the airport, doesn't mean you help with his luggage. He is a rubbish fella. Let the bugger stumble and fall for all you care. 3. The boycott isn't meant to avenge Pahalgam. The defence forces did that by bombing the terror camps and later pummelled enough airbases to keep their men at work for months. The no cricket policy, if ever, will be a signal that we are serious about keeping no relations with a state that sides with terrorists. No relations means no cultural or sports exchanges. Zero. That we will give them a walkover is the weakest argument. They can walk away with a cup for all we care. No means no touch points. We can't choose our neighbours but we can choose to have absolutely no business with the neighbour who keeps throwing firebombs into our compound. The only business acceptable is a firebomb from this side. Letting the kids play gully cricket while the neighbour sharpens his sword is called not learning a lesson ever. Screw sporting etiquettes. Screw ICC. Screw BCCI. Screw the sports ministry's myriad majbooriyan. And curse the Asia Cup.

These were the doper @janniksin losses in the year before we first know that he tested positive for banned substances - he was losing to Korda, Altamier, Russuvori, Lajovic, Cerundulo etc And now he is literally untouchable on any surface.. HOW can you ignore the fact that his rise to the top coincided with him testing positive for banned substances It’s an absolute disgrace that he continues to be shamelessly promoted and celebrated when clearly his meteoric rise to the top is clouded by double standards and a preferential treatment and ignoring the obvious facts @atptour @itia_tennis #Tennis

I have just spoken with Prime Minister @NarendraModi. We coordinated our positions on the war in Ukraine in order to move towards a just and lasting peace, with strong guarantees for Ukraine and Europe’s security. On trade issues, we agreed to strengthen our economic exchanges and our strategic partnership in all areas — this is the key to our sovereignty and independence. Following up on the AI Action Summit held in Paris last February, we are working towards the success of the AI Impact Summit to be held in New Delhi in 2026. For more effective multilateralism, we agreed to work closely together in preparation for the French presidency of the G7 and the Indian presidency of the BRICS in 2026.

@chand2579 Sad you are the forefront of opinion makers. Which top team uses 7 bowling options how many times in a big tournament. 2-3 proper all rounders is more than enough even in T20 cricket. even now one of kuldeep/varun will sit out to protect batting.

In a T20I squad you can have at the most two batters who don’t provide a second skill. Jaiswal and SKY are that. iyer and Gill don’t offer anything with the ball, it is a waste of resources. In a T20I squad you need to have as many multi skilled lads as possible

Hi 👋 Fedal widows (Sincaraz fans) who are mocking Djokovic. Sinner needs another 63 big titles to equal Djokovic. Alcaraz needs another 60 big titles to equal Djokovic. If you want to know how far that is, Federer won 54 big titles and Nadal won 59 big titles in their careers.
