JUST IN: Eleven (11) suspects have escaped from the Omuthiya police holding cells on Saturday after they allegedly used metal objects to break the wall and escape. Police members doing a morning shift found the hole and realised that many suspects have escaped. Those who escaped were detained on various charges ranging from theft, house-breaking, rape, fraud, bribery, organised crime, assaulting police officers, possession of drugs, armed robbery and attempted murder. Five suspects have already been arrested, while six remain at large.

A 28-year-old male cadet constable who was poised to graduate with the 1060 Cadet Constables next Monday has been dismissed from the police force after it was discovered that he allegedly forged his Grade 12 certificate to meet entry requirements.
Yule Nashidhiga was appointed as a cadet constable and attended Basic Police Training at the Pius Joseph Kahundu Police Training Centre, Omaheke Region.
During the screening and verification process of the qualifications for all the recruits by the Education Ministry, it was discovered that the suspect had forged his Grade 12 certificate.
He was arrested at the Ruben Danger Ashipala Police Training Centre in the Oshana Region, where all cadet constables are gathered for graduation.
The suspect appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate's Court and was granted bail of N$1500, and the matter was postponed to August 29, 2024.
He faces charges of contravention of Section 123 of the Education Act 3 of 2020, fraud, forgery, and uttering.
