After 18 years at Salesforce, I’m moving on today. Not sure where I’m going just yet, but I will miss the people, the coffee, and the view from the Tower. You can find me @steventamm or @tamm@fosstodon.org.

This account will be ending at twitter at the end of the month. Find me on mastodon after that, or wherever people end up for this kind of thing.

For #SFDC formula users with multi select picklists: PICKLISTCOUNT() returns the number of selected items in an MSP field. It’s available now (Summer ‘22). It isn’t in the help docs or release notes yet, but feel free to tell your friends.

@dhoechst @sfdc_nerd Stamping non-deterministic values improves performance. Formula fields are calculated every time, so reports and filters are faster if you can store it in each row.

@scottlee Agreed. Complex formulas in general are slow and expensive. Compile size isn’t a great proxy for complexity, but it’s usually close.

SFDC Note: the maximum size of compiled formulas in salesforce tripled to 15K in this past release. The documentation is out of date. Also, the next release will have a dozen or so more formula functions.

@tammforce Help me a bit more? So one custom formula is still limited to 4k. But all custom formulas on the obj can now go up to 15k?

@jlange118 Custom Formula source text has the same limit (4K). The compiled size limit expanded to 15K for all custom formula fields

@tammforce Is the formula size change documented anywhere? I'd like to pass this on to someone
