@watn_tarnation @Nerd4Cities Actually had to check the video list to make sure he hadn't secretly changed a title 🤣
English

Has anyone noticed that the content on @Nerd4Cities YouTube seems to be changing? I feel like he might not be the urbanist he once was...

English

@AliEldrazi FYI, sometimes you can find a decent deal on used. There are dealers who buy up old office furniture for resale. Sometimes this is a well-used Aeron, but sometimes it's the lightly used Gesture from a failed startup. Usually there's a showroom so you can try them out.
English

@Nerd4Cities Hmm this is what strong towns is all about, yeah?
English

“Hallmark Channel Urbanism” is a term I think we should coin and use excessively
YIMBY Manatee@Yimbymanatee
@Nerd4Cities …be more mixed use, compact, and walkable. The Hallmark channel style small town or suburb rather than the suburb of giant subdivisions, stroads, and seas of parking. Those places might not be places you could live car free, but they were car lighter and more child friendly.

@mikerugnetta Am I reading this correctly?
Did she believe that her child conceived by IVF was previously not a 'full' or 'real' child of some kind? That the ruling codified that born, living, real children conceived by IVF are the same as other children?
English

@CubeApril Cheating, but not wrong?
Against the rules cheating, ethically fine.

They did it again! Another back-to-back video pairing, @defunctland with the most high-effort and original piece I've seen on YouTube, and @hbomberguy digging into people straight up stealing for the most low-effort 'content.'

Researching for next week’s vid and a wild factoid jumped out at me. It’s the identity of the US metropolitan statistical area that contains the most cities over 200K population, and it’s #1 by a pretty good margin. Guess without googling!

@Defunctland The opening 2 minutes goes harder than 99.9% of everything else on Youtube.

@Defunctland I clicked your new video on the second screen to watch as 'content', and less than a minute in I closed everything else and poured myself a scotch because I could tell this was going to rock my world.
English

@ChinaMatt @TheLincoln Okay I googled this forgetting the original meme, 95% certain it was some Ferengi line
English

@TheLincoln Sure, civilization was obliterated, but for a time, we made profits.

@JeffSpeckFAICP @nytimes @lydiadepillis Is nearly $3000 a year per car a typical situation? I have to assume that the leased car is slightly larger but I have paid under $500 a year per car (both 10+ years old now) for at least a decade.
English

It has come to my attention that not enough of you have read this important @nytimes article by @lydiadepillis

Jeff Speck@JeffSpeckFAICP
Late to the game, just saw this AMAZING article by @lydiadepillis (who I am delighted to have met once thanks to @HTinWDC). PLEASE READ THIS ARTICLE and put it to use! It describes the tremendous costs of mandatory car ownership on ordinary Americans. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Sometimes I get a dumb idea stuck in my head, and I need to get it out.
Shoutout to @ColinOClock for the inspiration.

@CubeApril Personally, a thin wallet works great in colder months as you can fit everything else in a jacket/coat.
In warm months, very little bulk added to pant pockets.
The fanny pack trend is also great, and I did the 'man bag' back in the day as well.
English

@StrongTowns Is this redesign one step forward, one step back?
Sidewalk widened with grass strip -- trees removed and wider motorist sight lines.
Median fence -- more dangerous to jaywalk.
Road diet with bike lane -- again, tree removal offset with wider sight lines.
