Collaborative work of @slavicaPD, @Hashemyaser4, Jovanovic Lab and @DjuranovicLab - a new method to isolate ribosomes and translational material in minutes. We show multiple usage of our RAPPL method in biochemical and structural assays with ribosomes. Please be free to contact us for further instructions if needed. @IsraelF96135088 you'll like this one. A rapid, facile, and economical method for the isolation of ribosomes and translational machinery for structural and functional studies biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

ApoFe testing going OKish…1.7A not yet finish… it was not the thinnest grid but seems the scope is OKish after severe surgery. Also in house gold grids seem to work.

Excited to share our latest research on co-translational mRNA decay by the exosome in human cells! We uncover how the exosome-SKI complex is recruited to ribosomes and propose a novel role for SKI in recognizing collided disomes. @MPI_Biochem 👇👇👇

I never realized acknowledgements for reviewing activities in papers. Is this new? Who actually reveals themselves? Asking for a friend...

What software is most popular these days in single particle cryoEM? I saw at least one paper from a group that developed one program now using someone else program. Comments welcome regarding this or that.

Dear X-friends, Now that I am a poor scientist in a country where science is not a priority, I have to be careful with my expenses. I saw that NanoSoft sells (cheaper) auto grids and C-clips, anyone has experience with them? As good as TFS or crazy idea to buy them? Thanks!

@v_paavilainen A bit too thick carbon, the contrast could be improved I think but yeah… could be worse!

Benchmarking the Krios G4 here at KAUST gave us this nice 1.42Å map. Waters, hydrogens and waters with hydrogens. See more here: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Happy to share the results of a great collaboration with Thomas Pfannschmidt (LU Hannover), led by the amazing @paulafprado and Frederik Ahrens. Together, we determined the structure of the multi-subunit plastid-encoded RNA polymerase from chloroplasts! cell.com/molecular-cell… 🧵

@BJ_Greber Same particles gave better reconstruction with blush? Changes in 3DFSC, SCF etc. for the reconstructions?

@BJ_Greber Did you apply polishing in relion vs cryosparc? Would be interesting to compare refinement results of identical particle sets.
