In mitochondria, respiratory supercomplexes (blue) pump protons across crista membranes to create an electrochemical gradient, fueling adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase (pink) to regenerate ATP—the energy currency of life. Now, cryo–electron tomography captures these supercomplexes in their native organization, illuminating how the coordinated action of these molecular machines drives life’s fundamental energy conversion. Excited to share our new work on the proline-rich antimicrobial peptide Api137, which disrupts large ribosomal subunit assembly and induces RNA misfolding. Big thanks to the Spahn & Hoffmann groups for this amazing collaboration! rdcu.be/d5RsS

Happy to share the results of a great collaboration with Thomas Pfannschmidt (LU Hannover), led by the amazing @paulafprado and Frederik Ahrens. Together, we determined the structure of the multi-subunit plastid-encoded RNA polymerase from chloroplasts! cell.com/molecular-cell… 🧵
