@pattyb4c @JuddLegum It's possible your algorithm is only showing you these views. My algorithm is showing me the opposite, and most non-algorgithmic info I've sought out seems to confirm that Biden is not who most Democrats want.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but it may be worth digging deeper.
English

@JuddLegum What damage exactly? Seems to me like voters are more disgusted with the media etc and are ready to fight with Biden. Are you actually listening?
English

Not sure whether or not Biden will drop out but the persistent, daily calls by Democratic members of Congress, donors, and other influential Democratic figures for him to drop out have inflicted lasting damage on the campaign that would be difficult for any candidate to overcome
This is on top of the damage inflicted during the debate
Are there people willing to tell Biden that?
English

@scotty_sloan @sltrib Would catering to their audience mean censoring the news to ignore the controversies the SALT LAKE based Church is getting into around the world? They already left out a lot of info that makes the church look worse.
What do you think newspapers are for if not the news?
English

@cummins_lisa @sltrib The article wasn't bitter at all. It reported on actual issues in a fairly unbiased way. It even was pretty soft on the church, as it left out some of the more corrupt tactics they've been using to influence city councils.
English

@Dandletonian @sltrib There's a lot more to this story than the tribune reported. Trust me, this was tame. It's not a NIMBY situation.
English

@sltrib This is an absurd NIMBY framing that The Tribune would not take for other comparable groups
English

@jordan3putt @sltrib I don't understand. What about the article is parody?
English

@IdleGlands @sltrib Further still, outside Utah this is making news that draws negative criticism of the church, something it seems like pro-LDS people would want to be aware of. But if you prefer media that censors problematic press about the church and silences non-lds viewpoints...well, yikes.
English

@IdleGlands @sltrib Did you read the article? Have you been following this issue? It's causing a lot of problems for both LDS and non-LDS people in these communities, and not all members have been thrilled about what is happening. It's not anti-lds to report on what is occuring.
English

@rottengirl @LizMckennl @inthec9ulds @finngalkn Why are you the authority on what is reality? Your comments seem fairly out of touch with scientific reality, social reality of this century, the reality of gender constructs varying by culture, etc.
So why do get to speak authoritatively about what "reality" people are facing?
English

People like you care more about luxury beliefs than the reality that the rest of us have to face.
People like you think you have a moral high ground because you are defending a a more oppressed identity.
People like you support these lies and fantasies.
What in the ever loving fuck is wrong with you?

@yamihere333 @_Drew_2_U @elonmusk Dude, your tweet is demonstrating how effective scapegoating is. Politicians and the media distract us from the real problems caused by the corporations and oligarchs that run our country by blaming those problems on a vulnerable population.
And you bought in.
English

@_Drew_2_U @elonmusk The worse the lives of legal American citizens and legal American immigrants get, the more they will notice it

@VoteTrevorLee @jkimballcook I do think a larger portion of them left the church a bit after graduating though, I think easier access to information that often leads people to question and leave the church has probably made that happening quietly while people are still students more common.
English

@VoteTrevorLee @jkimballcook I've known quite a few progressives and exmos who attended BYU in the 80s and 90s, they just didn't have social media platforms at the time. BYU also used to enact a lot more student purges to weed out more dissidents before they graduate.
English

@sltrib Everyone saying "so what" or "it's a private institution" should remember other people live in Provo/Utah, and this speech has always been a call to action against people of differing beliefs.
English

@sltrib I remember when he first gave the talk both myself and other queer people started being threatened with "musket fire" on Twitter and other online spaces where queer folk and latter day saints come in contact. As a queer person who lives somewhat near BYU, I'm concerned.

🧵 ON NYC SUBWAY BAG CHECKS
I'm from a family of lifelong New Yorkers. I went to NYU in the 80s and have spent more than 35 years in Manhattan since then. And let me say this:
National Guard bag checks have NOTHING to do with subway safety. This is about conditioning the public to accept brazen violations of civil liberties and rights.
Instead of criminalizing poverty, homelessness, and mental health, we could use the billions spent on military/cops to help people and improve quality of life for everyone.
Even for those who believe in policing, you could simply have safety officers in subway cars, rather than deploying the National Guard to violate Fourth Amendment rights.

English

@flippersrevenge @SethMacFarlane What a fun straw man you have created in your head to justify the horrors of our present reality.
English

@SethMacFarlane Republic- protects rights of the individual
Democracy free for all- Tyranny of the majority. What would be outlawed near immediately? or should we ask Ireland? careful you could end up in jail for life for misspeaking.
