A little late but wanted to share a recent interdisciplinary article that I published with @Clamwoody (also now Dr. Woodward, also my sister) in @jclasukla which explores pain, stress and suffering from perspectives of a scholar of the humanities and a neurobiologist 🧵1/7

@Adel1989 @SiaraRouzer That sounds like a chemistry class! Neuroanatomy was my favorite class that I had to take twice.

Looking to prove a point with my undergrad RAs. Can any fulltime scientists (all career stages) share if they received a 'C' grade or lower on their undergraduate transcripts? Bonus points for sharing the class title.

@APazyryk @SiaraRouzer Good question. Being able to test well (the entirety requirement of pretty much all my chem grades) ≠ being able to learn skills in a lab or trying to ask/answer research questions. Rn I'm motivated to learn things pertinent to my research, instead of being motivated by a grade

@SiaraRouzer The fun part is that after barely scraping by in all sorts of undergrad chemistry classes I'm now post-PhD working in a lab doing analytical chemistry and, surprisingly, absolutely loving it :)

@SiaraRouzer Also neuroscience, and potentially cell biology/physiology/several other science courses I had to take.

Most of the students were singing things from Hamilton or Rent, but this one was like "you know what? I'm going to rep the local underground neuroscience singer/songwriter scene here in front of all my friends" So cool.

My scicomm win of the month/lifetime is that a high school student here in Bloomington sang this song at his choir concert last week, transcribing the music from this vid to have sheet music for the accompanist. He did an amazing job performing and I think that's pretty darn cool

Finally got back to 3d printing molecules. This weekend's print was a mu opioid receptor-Gi protein complex (Koehl 2018, 6DDF from protein databank)
