#nebpreps Life update here … I’m planning to retire this summer (mid-July or so). Thanks to all of the coaches, athletic directors, players and fans I’ve crossed paths with in my 38 (!) years at The World-Herald. It’s been my honor. 😀
NEW: The inside look at how Jon-Eric Sullivan got not one but two fifth-round pick from the Dallas Cowboys on draft night, with some clever maneuvering and a little gambling.

@DolphinsTalk This is good work Mike and seems like very fair grades across the board. If Proctor is legit, this turns a good draft into a great one IMO.
My top takeaways from GM Jon-Eric Sullivan’s 1st draft:
- More of a risk taker than imagined
- Intel gathering is important
- High conviction targets in R1-2
- Role-fillers from Day 2 on
- Position agnostic
- Treats offense & defense differently
- Wants O-linemen BIG

DOLPHINS DRAFT BIG BOARD, DAY THREE
I won't be updating after each pick today, but please tell me if you notice any on this list who I missed (i.e. have already been drafted and shouldn't be listed)

@bert695 I don't disagree. I'm leery. But it may be worth the bet based on the talent if you're getting a pick back, too. I'm skeptical but hard to dismiss Miami completely given the range of picks they're looking to get to and the need.
@AquaCoralRep I’m not counting the comp pick. We have six of our original picks. We have a 5th coming from the Steelers trade. We have a seventh coming from the Walker trade. That’s 8 picks.
Dolphins need to find a way to more 2027 picks on draft night, even at a traditionally unfair exchange rate
Right now they have 6 picks in a "generational" draft
@AquaCoralRep Dude, not lecturing. Just saying lot can change in a year. A year ago, 4 quarterbacks were thought to be top 10 picks. Now only one of those going in first three rounds likely. Not stirring trouble. Appreciate your draft work.
@AquaCoralRep I’m not saying the Dolphins should pump the brakes in terms of preparation, I’m just saying that all of us need to relax when it comes to assuming how great a draft a year from now is going to be
@taylorphins You're right, 7.
Pumping the brakes at the draft right in front of you is poor planning though. They all look at draft(s) ahead, esp this year & there won't be trading before now and the 23rd
That was great swapping a '27 5th for a 7th... forgot about that
