@greggnunziata one party control of washington doesn’t lend itself to Caesar proofing. especially when that party is a personality cult to Caesar

The president has done a remarkable amount of damage to the Constitutional order in a time of peace and prosperity, imagine what an aspiring autocrat could do in a time of genuine crisis. The times call for a generational effort to Caesar proof the Republic.

I lived just down the street from the Iranian hospital during the Iran-Iraq War. More than once there were lines out front of people looking for relatives wounded in the war. Just down the street was a multistory pagoda.

Dubai is cancelling the residencies of Iranians. This could affect between 400 to 600,000 Iranians. Five Iranian schools have been shutdown and the 54 year old Iranian Jumeirah hospital. Iranian assets in Dubai total some 330 billion dollars.

@EricLDaugh He's absolutely right. The violence all over the Middle East comes from one source. This war is being fought because Iran won't stop trying to kill Israelis.

🚨 REPORTER: How do you feel about the Iranian Foreign Minister accusing the US and Israel of genocide? MARCO RUBIO: The IRANIAN? He's an expert in genocide. They've killed thousands. Every problem in the Middle East is Iran. Hezbollah? Iran. Shia militias destroying and threatening Iraq? Iran. Hamas? Iran. Houthis? Iran. Assad in Syria? Iran. Everywhere you turn, THEY'RE BEHIND ALL OF IT. I need to report a smackdown! 🔥🔥🔥

@greggnunziata I agree with you that gerrymandering is terrible, but all the horses left the barn in 2019 (Rucho v. Common Cause). At this point you're a Republican demanding that Democrats unilaterally disarm; how do you think that looks?

@McFaul Given they're already funding the war, and suffering tremendous financial loss from sanctions, it was a loyalty ritual for Putin. Get them to show obedience in front of each other and if anybody shows a lack of enthusiasm there's a 4th floor window waiting.

No offense but I disagree with the BWI guys. What the RB group lack in numbers they make up in talent & readiness. I can’t remember a time when we had 4 RBs that could be RB1. Their size doesn’t bother. Cam Wallace James Peoples QMJ Carson Hansen make up a ridiculous 4some to me

@Microinteracti1 10 of the sixteen were reaper drones which are designed to be in higher-risk situations and will be shot down. another 3 were shot down by an ally. So that leaves 3 actual combat losses of piloted aircraft. Given 3,000 sorties or whatever it is, that doesn't seem like much.

US has lost at least 16 aircraft in Iran. Sixteen aircraft. Maybe twenty. In less than a month. The U.S. Air Force does not lose planes at this rate. Not in Iraq. Not in Afghanistan. Not in Syria. Iran is doing something those wars never managed to do. Air & Space Forces Magazine and multiple defense outlets report that Operation Epic Fury has cost the United States at least 16 military aircraft, possibly as many as 20, since fighting began. The losses span nearly a month of air campaign operations against a country that, for years, American planners quietly assumed would fold quickly under sustained pressure. It has not folded. Someone in the Pentagon is revising their assumptions. They should have done it earlier. Stay informed, Follow Gandalv @Microinteracti1

@ukraine_map Probably the best alternative is to mow the grass, perhaps enforce a no-fly zone across Iran and try to prevent them from rebuilding anti-aircraft systems.

This account is either 1. Advocating for endless war with Iran 2. The US to do a ground invasion of Iran with hundreds of thousands of its own troops to take over the country and install a new government Both are unrealistic and very risky options to cause regime change
WarMonitor🇺🇦🇬🇧@WarMonitor3

Any expert on nuclear counter proliferation policy will tell you the only reliable way to prevent Iran having a nuclear bomb long term is regime change, unless we want to hit them every year for the next decade, considering the leadership is more extreme now.

@ukraine_map Given that the alternative is to let them re-arm with more advanced missiles and drones and put that uranium into a dozen nuclear bombs, continued war in some form might be the only way Israel survives. The mullahs won't stop trying to kill 7 million Jews until they kill them.

@bneeditor You think back a couple of years and Netanyahu refused to help Ukraine militarily for fear of Putin's disapproval -- as it turns out the Israelis would have been better off in an alliance with Ukraine. War has changed fast.

And so it begins. Iran has armed not just with drones but Ukraine style FPV drones and it just used them with devastating effect against the IDF destroying 21 thanks in a morning . Ukraine was eventually given about 30 German made leopard tanks – state of the art that were supposed to be a game changer. They made no difference at all when the Russian swarmed FPV drones against them and destroyed them. It seems Israel has made the same mistake as America and armed itself for the wrong war, the last war. Iran has armed itself for modern war, a drone war.
OSINTtechnical@Osinttechnical

For the first time, Hezbollah successfully used an FPV attack drone to target an Israeli armored vehicle, hitting a Merkava MBT.

@RachelBitecofer @joerogan Rogan supported MAGA and Trump wholeheartedly. He is MAGA to the core. For ratings, and because of Trump's unpopularity, he'll pretend sometimes to be kind of a detached observer. But he'll be MAGA by election time, every election.

@greggnunziata The death of edited, fact-checked mass media is the underlying factor. But an equally big factor was taking nominating power away from party conventions and giving it to primaries. Superficially more democratic, but it opened the door to a skillful demagogue.

Presidential systems are better than parliamentary systems only to the extent that their citizens understand why that's so. When the cease to, the skids are greased in the slide to authoritarianism.

@JamesSurowiecki I guess what I'm saying is, if I were living in Israel or anywhere in range of Iran's missiles, survival means absolutely preventing the Ayatollah from acquiring nuclear weapons. Deterrence w a weak US and religious fanatics is not deterrence in the way we understand the word.

It's a phony question, because no serious person really believes Iran would fire a nuclear missile at the U.S., guaranteeing its immediate annihilation.

@JamesSurowiecki You said if Iran dropped a nuclear weapon it would be certain nuclear annihilation (presumably from the US). I would guess there is an equal probability that there would be no response from the US at all, just sanctions and stern warnings about red lines. So no deterrance.
