@ajassy Can someone answer if it’s about humanity ruining everything and how we should support x cause to be better? Don’t want to risk paying for tickets just to be lectured.

Project Hail Mary opens today. It’s a nearly impossible movie to adequately describe without giving up key info, so I won’t ruin it for folks. But, it’s my favorite movie I’ve seen in a long time. Truly outstanding and unique, and recommend your seeing.

A clear look at Rivian's R2 UI. Being able to move the music playback was highly requested! @WassymBensaid I hope many of these UI features come to R1!

Drove my R1T down to grab this car and… it won’t charge! Some of you may remember this charge port temp warning we had in our IONNA meetup video, well I forgot about that, and thankfully the next time I needed to DCFC is here at the Rivian service center 😆 Literally can’t make it up that we are stranded at the service center! Amazing spot to experience a failure. The team pulled logs and noticed an irrational temperature differential on the DC pins (similar issue to what happened on the Lucid Gravity during the Eastern Edge) Going to leave the R1T here and then we’ll see what the fix is ⚡️

@Hilbe Eh, I think this is different. RJ isn’t mincing words here. Do we see P2P on existing Gen 2? Who knows. In THIS instance, he isn’t saying they will ship that. But he’s being clear that a retrofit isn’t coming and we are on legacy code pretty soon.

@Hilbe I DO think that LE is 60+. I think that Dual+Large should be ~52k. In my mind, Large motor gets you premium audio and standard gets standard. Too many SKUs and they need to justify a potential price (margin) jump from 45 to 55 (RWD->DM, STD->Large, standard -> Prem Audio)

@Hilbe I think you’re off by 40-45% on the battery cost. In Gen2, there is a 40% jump in capacity. In R2, it’s probably going to be half that (that’s me just guessing, but let’s guess 65/80?) I think you may ultimately be right because there is no known ‘decontenting’ in lower trims.

For those of you in the "R2 will be $55,000" or similar price at launch, how do you explain this? I'll use R1 prices to give us insight into a pricing structure. R2 $45,000 Base Variant - RWD (Single Motor) - Standard (LFP) Battery - Base Wheel - Base Interior - Base Audio - Included Paint R2 Launch Edition + AWD (Dual Motor) = +$?,??? + Large (NMC) Battery = R1 Standard -> Large +$7,000 + Performance Upgrade = R1 +$5,000 I think the 3 big ticket items are $10,000 to $15,000 upgrades alone. Now let's layer on a few things we've seen in the R2D2 builds. + Premium Audio = R1 +$1,750 + Premium Interior (Ventilated Seats) =$?,??? Possible Options + Paint = R1 $2,000 to $3000 + Wheels = R1 $1,000 to $2,000 + All-Terrain Package = R1 $3,700 + Autonomy+ Lifetime = $2,500 + Connect+ Lifetime = $?,??? No matter how I slice it/dice it - if I use the "included" paint color, wheels, etc - the absolutely lowest price I get is a $60,000 starting price for R2 launch edition. I think it'll end up closer to $62,000 to $65,000 to maximize margins. I have no doubt that Rivian will sell every unit they make in the $60,000 to $65,000 price point for 2026.

@mederComments @ZevCyber I think we’re all being swayed by a small number of people who ‘regularly’ drive 800 miles. How often is regularly? Once a week? Once a month? Twice a year? The people I know who take that trip once a year either plan their stop (Buc-ees) or rent a car vs put 2k miles on the EV

What does a 30 min Rivian R2 10-80% charge mean for real road trips? TLDR: a 15 min iX3 so is equivalent to a 27 min R2 stop. If EPA range is 330 miles, 70% is 231 miles in 30 min. 7.7 miles/min (mpm). Wife's EV6 is 18 min for 192 miles, 10.7 mpm, almost 40% faster. BMW iX3 is 280 miles in 20 min, 14 mpm or 82% faster. Practically, this means a 15 min vs ~27 min stop as the curve drops a lot towards 80%. Add 5 min overhead and 20 vs 32 min stop. A 4 stop travel day would add 48 min in the R2. Is it important to you?

@brandenflasch Yes, people would want faster charging, if educated. But it's just one of the things on the list and one that (apparently) many OEMs are not prioritizing. H/K/G are not blowing everyone else out of the water in sales

@brandenflasch I think you and Kyle are right, but are also falling into the trap that experts always do. You know the facts, experiences, and all of the details but are mildly disconnected from 'joe user' (read: not twitter and YT viewers). This happens in every field (and not meant as rude)

@Hilbe I can’t help but think that you’re off by 30% on most of these. Hard to tell if my logic is winning or my emotions. This will be woefully mispriced if you’re right.

I think I'm on the money here for R2 pricing. I am betting Rivian creates a launch R2 package consisting of some of grouping of paint, wheels, interior, autonomy, and/or all-terrain. This is exactly what they did with R1 Gen 2 Quad - try to show value in the forced bundled extras. I see the initial ASP of R2 in the mid $60s depending on what's included and what's not included. I think they will throw in free lifetime Autonomy+ for the non-LiDAR R2 builds just like they did with the Quad. R2 Performance Dual Large $45k Base RWD LFP +$5k Performance +$5k Dual +$3k Large +$2k Premium Audio +$2k Paint +$2k Interior +$2k Wheels +$2,500 Autonomy+
Chris Hilbert@Hilbe

**R2 Pricing Estimate Update** I think we also need to consider autonomy in the R2 Performance Dual initial pricing. They could force bundle it with the first deliveries for even more margins. With this change, we might see the initial builds start in the high 50s and go into the 60s. It all depends what is "free" in the launch pricing. Free paint? Free wheels? Free autonomy? R2 Performance Dual Large $45k Base RWD LFP +$5k Performance +$5k Dual +$3k Large +$2k Premium Audio +$2k Paint +$2k Interior +$2k Wheels +$2,500 Autonomy+ 👇

Here are my predictions for how the R2 Performance stacks up against the Model Y Performance - which is better? Range: R2 0-60: MYP Charging: MYP Price: MYP Passenger Space: R2 Cargo Space: R2 On-Road Handling: MYP Off-Road Handling: R2 Options: R2 Infotainment: MYP ADAS: MYP I think this changes in a few years with more time focused on software and the third motor for performance.

Rivian originally said there would be (2) V2X offerings: R2 with 11 kW and R1 with 24 kW. R2 obviously is NACS, whereas at the time R1 was CCS. I can see them killing off the 24 kW version and simply offering a single 11 kW system that can take either NACS or CCS cables instead. Thoughts?
Stephen@srharris22

@KevinMelnuk @Hilbe Do we think V2X is coming for CCS R1? Or are we just dead in the water. I have like 20+ power walls in my garage between our two R1Ss hahahahaha

Rivian hasn’t even delivered an Autonomy and AI Day feature to customers yet. I think we will see another wave of AI news as they rollout those capabilities to customers. AI feature rollout will be ongoing and in the news good and bad - look at Tesla with news exposure on each new FSD release.
MoreGainzs@moregainzs

$RIVN UBS just said you should sell your Rivian shares for two reasons, price target at $15: 1. Rivian AI potential may have reached its peak as "most of the AI related news is out." 2. Concern about high expectations surrounding Rivian’s upcoming R2 vehicle launch, with UBS forecasting 2026 and 2027 sales 16% and 19% below consensus estimates, respectively.
