How terrible. What sort of ideas would they have about student accents then? Poor, poor, the poorest of leadership.

Ofsted has announced changes to school inspections. Improvements include revised inspection processes, changes to the complaints procedure, and new government investment in wellbeing. #Ofsted #Education Schools graded inadequate due to ineffective safeguarding will see a quicker return from inspectors. This aims to facilitate quick improvements and increase the potential for a higher overall grade. #OfstedChanges #SchoolInspections Ofsted's complaints process will become more transparent, facilitating schools in raising concerns. A consultation is launched today with proposals aimed at accelerating the resolution process. #Transparency The Department for Education is increasing its funding to Education Support, with an aim to support an additional 500 school leaders by March 2024. #Wellbeing #EducationSupport Schools will receive more information on when to expect their next inspection. The provisionality of inspection outcomes until finalisation will be emphasised, increasing transparency in the process. #Ofsted #InspectionTiming From September, inspection reports will refer to 'the school', rather than individuals. This adjustment to language use in reports is aimed at depersonalising criticisms. #Ofsted #InspectionReports Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman stated the focus on children's education and wellbeing will be maintained in inspections, amidst these changes. #AmandaSpielman

LOVE this: 'If the extra work burden is not making tangible improvements to both teachers’ and students’ learning, then leaders might want to think carefully about why they would risk damaging trusting and collegial working relationships with teachers.' - Wilson and Brady (2022)

Just sharing some emerging findings from research looking at the impact of the pandemic on schools, students and communities. Valuable knowledge for all those who work in education.
