Testing out this TFT Display for an upcoming project. It is magical what you can build with these things. It's running on #ESP32S3 btw. Which displays do you guys use for your projects ? #Hardware #esp32 #IoT #embeddedsystems

I'm too broke to pay for hosting services right now, I'm planning to install Ubuntu server on this Raspberry pi 4 and see if I can host my website there. Any advice on how best I can do it? #raspberrypi #WorldPiDay #Ubuntu #edgecomputing

@GlobalTechFM RS-485 would work great of I was intending to use it in an industrial setup but this is just for simple sensor hub, for my desk actually

@tech_nickk2 Clean wiring! For additive manufacturing controllers, I prefer rugged RS-485 displays, but your SPI setup is perfect for prototyping. Is this for a printer interface or sensor hub?

@tech_nickk2 what app or web that helped you to create the images that are displayed on the TFT? I'm asking because when i tried to work with the regular oled, i have found it somehow difficult.

I'm among the few young engineers trying to manufacture electronic devices here in Kenya and it's hectic. We design and assemble locally but the tax and import duties on the equipment we use is really high, at times upto more than 60% its value, how can you help us?
Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui,CBS@tanuijohn

Strengthening Kenya’s Electronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing Ecosystem Kenya is making steady progress in developing its electronics and electrical manufacturing sector, moving from an import-dependent market to a growing regional production and assembly hub. Companies such as M-KOPA, EADAK, and Sun King are assembling millions of smartphones annually, while new facilities like K-Elec are producing TVs and refrigerators locally. The semiconductor research and development initiative at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology is also helping position Kenya within the global microelectronics value chain. Today, I accompanied Cabinet Secretary @honkabogo during a consultative meeting with manufacturing sector representatives led by Tobias @TobiasAlando, CEO of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers @KAM_Kenya, to discuss strengthening the sector. The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding local manufacturing through policy streamlining, targeted incentives, and regulatory reforms. A Joint Sector Working Group bringing together government and industry will also be established to develop a comprehensive policy framework and address bottlenecks such as component import processes and regulatory delays. We encourage manufacturers to take advantage of the growing opportunities in Kenya’s electrical and electronic manufacturing sector by investing in local production, innovation, and skills development to position the country as a competitive regional hub. @tech_nickk2 I pitched such an idea to my Norwegian friends to enable us build PC's, laptops and smartphones locally using more advanced equipment sourced abroad. The math was not mathing! They actually encouraged me to move to Rwanda btw 😅😅. We could work out sth huko mbele engineer!

@tech_nickk2 You need a taxes guy. There are many manufacturing firms in Kenya. There are ways to makebit easier. like relocate to industrial parks. rent isnt that bad and you get tax breaks. for example also, find a good tax guy. spend that money on them instead good luck Prost

@tech_nickk2 The government does NOT want you to manufacture electronic devices in kenya. The High Taxes are DELIBERATE and well known. Move to Rwanda or Ethiopia if youre serious with your venture. Kenya hates its innovative youths

@GibzMunene @tech_nickk2 Exactly, also there is a way you can ask for tax exemption before bringing them in. That was yesterday’s discussion btw and how to make the process simpler and more predictable long term.
