@Coobyk_ As others have confirmed, this is NOT a screenshot of the actual product. In Windows 11, these elements are correctly aligned. If folks find any alignment issues: 1) first check the build and confirm, and 2) if there is an issue, tag me. Have a great weekend.

One thing I appreciate about accessibility work in Windows is how many different forms it can take.   Not everyone needs the same thing from their PC, or even the same thing in every moment.   Earlier this week, we shared some of our latest work using haptics to make interactions across Windows feel more meaningful.    Today’s Windows Insider Preview releases are good examples of that same idea: making the screen easier to look at for longer, making a braille display simpler to connect, and helping Voice Access focus on your voice when there is noise around you.   All built with the same goal: designing Windows to meet people where they are and adapt to more of their needs.   Link to blog: blogs.windows.com/windows-inside…

@marcusash @marchr One thing I hope to see in Windows 11 soon is a new Autoplay dialog update since it hasn't been redesigned since Windows 8, please 🙂🙂🙂🙂

@tomwarren That is more annoying than that floating Copilot button lol. Since at least Copilot in Office can be useful. I don't need AI in a messaging app.

isn’t it crazy that we’ve had OLED Displays on phones for a long while, but we got native systemwide dark mode support on Android and iOS only about 7-8 years ago

Crossing my fingers that at one point the Clock app will never ship as a stub, it's way too essential for that.

Surface Laptop 8 is not out or announced yet, let alone pricing. Microsoft DID announce Surface Laptop for Business 8th Edition, but this is not that, either. This post is confusing an unannounced device with the Surface Laptop for Business, 13-inch with INTEL, announced this week, and is aimed at enterprise. Anyone who follows computing knows there is markup on enterprise devices due to extended support, Windows 11 Pro license, and advanced security hardware/features. Also, we have reported for the last 8 months that RAM and NAND prices will drive up the costs of all PCs. Apple is known to be strategic in stockpiling, with long-term contracts and buying in bulk in 2025. Microsoft doesn't have this reach because it sells less than 1% of all PCs and is a boutique OEM, whereas Apple is a "preferred customer" and can secure better pricing due to volume. Apple has also historically charged a massive premium for RAM and SSD upgrades (often 400% or more over market cost). These "upsell" margins act as a shock absorber. Translation: They gouged everyone in the past, but now can use that as a buffer to look like the good guys. Also, while Apple keeps the entry-level prices down, it raises them on the extremely high-end, cause those people always pay anyway. I rate this tweet below an F.
System Settings@app_settings

we’re now living in a timeline where APPLE gives you twice as much ram and storage as the competition, and for less money too…

Today we're announcing the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop for Business, powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3. The result of deep collaboration between hardware and software teams at every level. Proud of what this team has built 🚀. blogs.windows.com/devices/2026/0…

If you can't beat them, join them. Microsoft just announced Azure Linux 4.0. It's first full general-purpose Linux distribution for servers. Microsoft's Linux distro is not a new thing. They created a distro for their own purpose 10 years ago. But it was not for everyone. That distro powered their Azure cloud platform. But no one, not even Azure users could just install that Microsoft distro, until now. So, what is Azure Linux 4.0? In simple terms: - It’s a lightweight, secure, and cloud-optimized Linux made by Microsoft - Designed specifically to run smoothly on Azure - Now available as a regular virtual machine image (not just for containers) There are two versions: - Azure Linux 4.0: For general server and VM use - Azure Container Linux: A hardened, immutable version for running containers Here's some more detail: - Based on Fedora with Microsoft-curated packages - Works great with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) so developers can test locally on Windows 11 - 2 years of support + monthly security updates - Open source and available on GitHub Microsoft says this is their way of giving customers a reliable, “batteries-included” Linux experience on Azure while still supporting other popular distros like Ubuntu and Red Hat. The surprise announcement happened at the Open Source Summit North America (a major Linux Foundation event). Microsoft’s Brendan Burns revealed it during his talk, and it quickly became one of the biggest moments of the conference. itsfoss.com/news/azure-lin…

Personalization and customization is in Windows' DNA. It always has been. Reading through your feedback and meeting with Windows Insiders over the past few months reminded us just how deeply people care about this. You wanted more control, more customization with taskbar and Start. We heard you and today we're delivering.

@TeaAndDates Awesome. As much as I prefer my taskbar on the bottom personally, these taskbar improvements will make Windows 11 even better and I'm even more excited for the start menu improvements. Keep up the awesome work.

Now available: updates that make the Taskbar and Start feel way more personal. You’ve been asking (loudly! repeatedly! passionately!) and you were right. Let me know what you think.
