I’ve struggled from imposter syndrome the moment I struck pen to paper during this process to become an educator. I’m currently packing up my stuff in preparation of driving home after class today and in a different headspace. I finally feel I belong. And it feels amazing.

I really hate the “No hats, hoods, or headwear,” policies that so many schools enforce. Is that hat stopping that kid from engaging in the lesson? No.

@DPAWestonPhD I’m sure some students need them and use them. It would be ideal if any students who needed them could discretely have access to them. Unfortunately when they are just provided for the taking, they are misused and creating a lot of additional and unnecessary work for custodians.

@StandingHannah “It’s not autism because your child loves you” said by a child psychiatrist with a specialty in ASD. I said I know lots of students who love their parents who have autism. He said “Then they are all misdiagnosed”. I cried. Then he told me I’m dysregulated so maybe I’m the problem

A lifetime ago when the girl was diagnosed with anxiety but “she likes to hug you so she’s not autistic” I told a school based OT I was concerned about her pacing. #autism #oted
