@jsales43 @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss This article does, in no way, state for a fact that fish feel pain. No article does.
The abstract literally states:
"..strongly suggests that fish experience pain in a manner similar to the rest of the vertebrates. Although scientists cannot provide a definitive answer.."

@tedsf @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss You talk like it's difficult to find article that say in fact fish feel pain lmao, if you can't argue here and want to discuss articles I have no problem with that... link.springer.com/article/10.100…

@jsales43 @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss God this is why twitter sucks.
You are clearly wrong and have all these people wasting their time trying to educate you.
Find me a SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE that says fish feel pain. You won't because that isn't based in any science.
I'm muting this thread - waste of time.

@JustWantToQ1 @tedsf @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss Where did you took a philosophical approach 🤦 this is getting funny now lmao

@jsales43 @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss Dude stop. This isn't a debate it's a fact.

@tedsf @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss Really bad argument, you are expecting only same estructures having the same function wich is completely wrong. Different groups can have different estructures to do the same thing, we call that analog structures in biology blog.prepscholar.com/analogous-homo….

English

@jsales43 @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss You're lumping together psychological experiences and sensory stimuli. Fish literally don't have a cerebral cortex and can neither experience pain or fear.
This isn't a debate my dude, this is basic biology.

@tedsf @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss What? This don't make sense, the response of something is off is pain, pain is the definition of the sesation. Physiologically espeaking the fish respond in the same way we do, they release painkiller like opiods the same way.
English

@jsales43 @JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss In the context of this conversation he's not feeling agony of pain. He may feel something to help him survive but it ain't pain.
Think like touching a hot stove causes a tickle. It would tell you to not do the thing but not via pain.
English

@JustWantToQ1 @definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss Every animal needs to have a mechanism that reward behaviors that ensure the survival of the specie like sex and food, the fish don't think he needs to eat he simply eats because the brain reward that, if he is being hurt or have a dissease he knows that with the opposite of good
English

@definite1ywrong @domainsdomain @kirawontmiss Don't listen to these fools - you are right.
They have receptors that can respond to pain to help them survive but they do not have actual pain receptors to feel pain like we do.

@foorykury @1JohnnyTesla @DailyLoud I could be wrong but can't Nitrogen form polymers and chains that could act as building blocks for life?
They do tend to want to form a gas so it probably wouldn't look like carbon-based life but to quote Kevin Garnet: Anything is possible

English

@1JohnnyTesla @DailyLoud Water and oxygen is fundamental for carbon based lifeforms. Carbon is the only molecule than can structure itself in a way that enables it to hold information; DNA. Its seemingly impossible for life to be structured around any other kind of element like silicon.

Alien life is most likely to exist in these star systems according to scientists 👀👽
Oxygen-rich planets hosted by stars with relatively fewer metals are more likely to be habitable for life, according to a new analysis by a team of astronomers from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research.
“planets in the habitable zones of stars with low metallicity are the best targets to search for complex life on land.”

@markasaurus Are we not going to talk about that 100ft wave about to decimate the coast?
