For years now, people across Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, Kaduna, Borno and several other states have been crying about worsening insecurity, mass killings, kidnappings and coordinated attacks that no longer looked like ordinary banditry. Entire communities have been wiped out, people can no longer farm safely, travelers are kidnapped on highways, and fear has slowly become part of daily life. Now imagine hearing that one of the most senior ISIS figures in the world may have been operating from inside Nigeria all along. How long was he in Nigeria? Who was protecting him? What exactly has the government known all this time that Nigerians were never told?
