Red carpet preparation, NHS style. An emergency attempt at hair taming before I rush on a train to London & tonight’s @RTS_media award ceremony. Overjoyed that BREATHTAKING is nominated for best series. And yes there is a sparkly frock crammed into my rucksack 💙

@gtomlin A timely and thoughtful reminder of the true depth in the ‘real meaning’ of Christmas amidst the seemingly increasingly superficial and trivial clutter around this time of the year. May at least an inkling of the divine spirit touch each and every one at this time.

After three hundred carol services I find I’m deliriously listening to Bob Chilcot’s arrangement of Silent Night with fascination. SEND HELP

Thank you @BBCr4today for such a great send off of the great #RobBonnet whose contribution to our morning listening will be sadly missed. A great career and delighted tone indeed. Enjoy retirement Rob!

Truly excited at the #BBCProm just starting featuring the music of #NickDrake . Since discovering his albums in the 70’s, I’ve always been sorry not to have seen him, along with sadness at his untimely death. Wonderful insights & great music

@jimmy9 and @KirstyWark bowing out today with enormously supportive and warm families around them. Perhaps no surprise that two such gifted servants of their respective disciplines should have been blessed with such family communities. I think this demonstrates something..

What a day of goodbyes.. the most incredible morning @HomeOfCricket witnessing @jimmy9 last Test match, & now @BBCNewsnight giving the brilliant @KirstyWark a moving send off for such a remarkable journalist. Such great role models will be much missed.

It’s been so good to watch Jimmy Anderson bowl over the last 21 years. Extra privilege to be there for his farewell today. There won’t be another like him in my lifetime.

This conversation on the conundrum facing society around aging, dependency, and assisted dying delves deeper than most. Highly recommended. Matters of Life & Death: Dependence - Should Christians embrace ‘being a burden’ on others as we get old? premierunbelievable.com/matters-of-lif…

Why does a terrible attack on Ukrainian children bring about an immediate response from our new Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer while he has said nothing about the horrible slaughter of Palestinian children in nine months of relentless mass murder? Just to put this in context by 29 Oct 2023, barely a month into the Israeli assault, Save the Children declared that the number of children killed in Gaza was more than all those killed globally since 2019. Why is the mass-murder of Palestinian children less upsetting to him than an attack on those in Ukraine?
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

Attacking innocent children. The most depraved of actions. We stand with Ukraine against Russian aggression - our support won’t falter.

Inspired this morning by the remarkable wisdom of #MarilynRobinson on @BBCRadio4 Start the week on the subject of Biblical meaning and interpretation. Other contributors of mixed value, but the depth of Marilyn Robinson’s insight rewards a second listen.

This book of short episodes in the work of a truly remarkable Jesuit priest amongst the gangs of Los Angeles has been my book of the year so far. Utterly profound reflections which reach far beyond the particular circumstances he draws from. Humbling and challenging.@FrGregBoyle

Very moved this morning whilst visiting @ICONSCoventryC1 to enter the chapel of Christian Unity. Powerful statement of the primary importance of retaining unity in faiths despite secondary disagreements. #unity

An exceptionally timely and important piece from @wself on @bbcradio4 on the ghastly impact of much contemporary medical management methodology. Clinicians with superb new treatments to hand are best left with deep humanity rather than yet more ‘apps’ to help.
