Someone once told me, it was alright to use long words. I didn't HAVE to hold my readers' hands, not all the time. Self is a reminder - like Meades, and like LJK Setright - that complex topics merit the riches of literacy. You don't have to agree with some writing, to enjoy it.

@wself Great piece. - the alternative which is a judgement based, common law system remains very embedded in British culture - especially outside of London.
The visceral reaction against the absurd level of procedure is very real.
