As leader of the Ulster Unionist Party and Northern Ireland’s first Prime Minister, he stood firm during the Home Rule crisis, helped forge the Ulster Covenant, and secured the foundation of Northern Ireland within the United Kingdom. His legacy shaped the path we walk today.

I welcome todays common sense judgement. Soldier F trial has been a painful and protracted process. There needs to be a better way of dealing with the legacy of the past and to ensure no rewriting of it.
