The Greens shouldn't stand against Andy Burnham in Makerfield.
We wouldn't win. It would damage our credibility. Reform would 100% get in. And a successful Burnham would owe greens a favour and be more likely to not contest key green targets in a general election.

This is a disgraceful statement from the Prime Minister. The vast majority of people attending tomorrow’s rally are ordinary citizens who feel unheard and frustrated with how this country is being governed, by him. Labeling them as unpatriotic or far right agitators is a serious mischaracterisation of public sentiment. It's clear for all to see, Keir Starmer hates British people.

I'm a Green Party member and will be campaigning for a council by-election candidate this weekend.
But, if I was in Manchester, I would be campaigning for Burnham. Stopping Reform matters far more than party politics.

Our current first-past-the-post voting system is hugely undemocratic, allowing a political party to secure a massive majority of seats on a minority vote.
We need to introduce proportional representation now to ensure every voice is heard and every vote counts.

Despite it being obvious that the time of two-party politics is over, the govt laid out no plans to introduce a fairer voting system in the King's Speech.

Who the next Labour leader will be is inconsequential. Why? Because even though the hopefuls will cynically talk ‘left’, appeal for unity and talk about working class communities, none of them will challenge capital-a necessity to make even the most moderate changes we so desperately need.
