Hi @JohnMu 👋 I have a charity client that has a global site & a UK site. Both sites have hreflang tags set up correctly, but the global site is appearing in the UK SERPs. In the past, hreflang tags have solved this problem, but this year it is not working? Any idea why?

@LoukilAymen @JohnMu I am curious why you wouldn't put the x-default on the global page? Google recommends it for a site such as this.

@telescopnic @JohnMu I could be.. because when I searched "ul fitr", Google asked : Do you mean "al fitr". Also, I wouldn't put the x-default on the global page

@LoukilAymen @JohnMu Where are you seeing that? I am seeing that there is a reciprocal tag

@telescopnic @JohnMu Also 3. The en-ca page is not referencing the en-GB one with a return tag

@LoukilAymen @JohnMu 2 - These are localised keyword variations. In the UK we use 'ul fitr', whereas globally 'al fitr' is more commonly used. Do you think that this could be overriding the hreflang tags as a ranking indicator?

@LoukilAymen @JohnMu Thanks for taking a look Aymen! I really appreciate it. 1 - We have used x-default on the global site, as this is the fallback site. We want it to rank when there isn't a dedicated country-specific site for that market.

I checked Google guidance and you still use hreflang for localized variations. So the en-gb site should be the only one appearing in the UK results. Any advice would be VERY much appreciated 💙 as this is causing an issue for our users who are landing on the incorrect pages...
