🌊 Master Carver Joe Martin Martin has been dedicated to mastering the art of traditional ƛaʔuukʷiatḥ (Tla-o-qui-aht) canoe carving for decades & speaks to transferring his knowledge to future generations, taking on apprentices and leaving a legacy of over 70 carved canoes.

1/3 Meet Kiyomi Holman, one of our Community Support Specialists. With a BSc in Physical Geography & GIS and an MSc in Remote Sensing, Kiyomi works on a wide range of projects, including #oceanacoustics, environmental monitoring, & vessel monitoring. #IWD2023 #womeninstem

3/3 Her advice to women & girls pursuing a #STEM career: “Stay curious and follow the opportunities! Drop the idea of perfection and lean into new situations with a focus on learning. Watch those around you not with envy but with excitement for what we can accomplish together.”
