Husbands, don't post about how your wife was once sexually promiscuous. Let her post about that, if she wants to. Love demands that you honor her, both publicly and privately.

My two issues are: 1) Men who say stuff like this are usually the types who would never say that their daughters marrying a man of similar background and testimony would be a wise course of action, so there's a double standard 2) It creates a sense of entitlement to those women when it would be wise to advise them to live lives of repentance whether they marry or not, and that salvation does not erase all earthly consequences of their actions and relational challenges still exist

Look, I have always taken a more nuanced and compassionate position on notch counts than most men in this corner. It's an important variable in choosing a woman, but I think men overstate its significance given the modern context But the reason the church loses credibility with these takes is not only because pastors are terrible at assessing whether a woman has actually repented, but because in the eyes of these Christians she actually gains more moral cache when she "comes to Christ" despite her past behavior Rather than humble her, the Church elevates her. She is "Rahab", a holy woman. Meanwhile it's the men ironically who are shamed for not considering her suddenly the apex Christian. I'm all for being more accepting of these women, and I believe they deserve love. But it is absurd that a guy who's spent his life celibate trying to be faithful is rebuked by a pastor for not wanting a woman who lived a degenerate life

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It's not a mark of a Christian to hate Jews. It's also not a mark of a Christian to idolize them. They're just sinners like everyone else. Some Protestants mock and rebuke Roman Catholics for their idolatry of Mary (and rightly so), but then turn around and idolize Israel. Sad.
