The vast majority of that is from tariffs, as Trump's trade policy begins to generate substantial income for the government. Total customs revenue from actions taken since Jan. 20 — including tariffs, taxes and fees — hit $106.1 billion as of last Friday, according to Customs and Border Protection documents seen by Axios. Most of that, $81.5 billion in total, is from tariffs imposed since Jan. 20. The revenue from Trump's sweeping global levies is substantially higher than in past years. For the current fiscal year through the end of May, collections are about 65% higher than the same period the year prior, per Treasury data. The overall effective tariff rate is now at the highest level since the late 1930s, per the Yale Budget Lab.
