@albie_cilliers Yes, credit to Milei for what he has achieved thus far but he is not guaranteed to succeed, they are in a very bad financial position. They don’t even have FX reserves. SA in a much better position. Hope that he is successful and get Argentina back on track, would be remarkable.

@tertius88 The weakness was because investors were worried if Milei would be re-elected. Compare from before his first election in December 2023...

BREAKING: Argentina's stock market surges +25% at the open as investors react to President Milei's party winning their midterm election.

@MichaelJordaan I think what is being missed here is that the market was very weak leading into this. Basically flat over 3m period. Give credit on the reforms but also note they basically have no foreign reserves.

@JulianKlymochko Yield compression? Lower ROE’s? Vast sum of money flowing into this sector. Back book vs Front book.

The "BDCs are falling because rates are declining" thesis doesn’t hold water, as the previous bear market happened during a rising rate environment, and secondary market pricing was stronger during a zero interest rate environment.
The misguided declining rates thesis is a case of price driving narrative. For example, if BDC prices were rallying, then people would say, "of course BDC prices are rallying as rates decline - investors are fleeing money market funds, short term bond funds, and T-bills in search of higher-yielding alternatives."

Anyone who is saying the BDC sell-off makes sense because of lower short-term rates needs to explain this chart. BIZD prices were HIGHER in a zero rate / lower-for-longer environment. Prices then FELL as short-term rates spiked. Retail investor behavior is not smart money here.

@ToffCap Judging by the picture I would say $MCFT but that is small cap. Still fits the metrics + insider buying.

@CityPowerJhb You are forgetting about this one @CityPowerJhb @CityofJoburgZA 54 hours later and nothing has been done about live wires (seriously dangerous) and water running down the street. Reported numerous times - 103 19th Street Parkhurst.

I understand times are hard, but doesn't the President of the #Ukraine own a suit? I don't have much respect for current members of the U.S. Congress either, but I still wouldn't address them wearing a t-shirt. I wouldn't want to disrespect the institution or the Unites States.

R100 000 invested into Old Mutual Investors fund today buys you a second-hand car worth R223 840. The same amount in Franklin US Opportunities buys you the new R1m Hunday.

If you have been invested offshore for the last 10 years you wouldn’t be worried by this. Cars and petrol are dollar assets and roughly following the same trend.@RomanCabanac

@JohannBiermann1 Chile struggled with sort of the same problem a couple of weeks ago (very successful vaccination program but covid cases were surging). Seems to be getting better now. Israel on other hand does not have this problem.
