It’s actually ontologically sacred, and treating the sacred as common is depraved. Hope that helps.
Jorge of the Wired@saturnine_grace
It's funny how traditional Christians think there's an ontologically depraved act that becomes blessed/sanctified if you do it after a magic ritual lol

Theology 101:
Them: “The doctrine of the Trinity isn’t clearly expressed in Scripture, so it isn’t essential to the Christian faith.”
Me: “Is the unity of God clearly in Scripture?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is it essential?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is the deity of the Father clearly in Scripture?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is it essential?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is the deity of the Son clearly in Scripture.”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is it essential?”

Me: “Is the deity of the Spirit clearly in Scripture?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is it essential?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is the fact that Father, Son, and Spirit are not the same person but are distinct clearly in Scripture?”
Them: “Yes.”
Me: “Is it essential?”
Them: “Yes.”

@BMcGrewvy This premise seems to imply evangelical ecclesiology. At least... it seems to imply the evangelical position regarding the universal church, that it is an invisible organism, not an institution.

Has anyone else noticed that often, the people who shout for repentance the most at "revival" events are themselves people who have been confronted over and over about their sin and yet refuse to repent?

@Darbyfan2472 @nocoradio Historically, Dispies have been very solid on assurance.
English

@nocoradio The notes on assurance of salvation in the original scofield notes are better than what I’ve heard from most reformed pastors/theologians.

@Benjenjenj It comes down to presuppositions about how God has preserved His word, and whether you think it more likely that some passages could get left out, or that some would get added. The latter seems implausible to me based on how early Christians treated the scriptures.
English

@Benjenjenj The earliest *known* manuscripts aren’t necessarily the oldest (most accurate) readings. The truth is we can only guess about the origin of textual variants or the transmission history. And there are theories that support the majority or byzantine tradition.

Not only does it belong in the bible, it belongs in John between 7:52 and 8:12.
Zoe Miller@zoeschimke
Does the “pericope adulterae” passage belong in the Bible? (John 7:53-8:11, regarding the woman caught in adultery and “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”)
