@EhresmanKatya All she ever wanted were new stone countertops to replace the ancient grouted tile. Is that too much to ask for?

I’m meeting Kate’s parents for the first time. Do you think they’ll like me? I’m flying 17 hrs. She’s from Australia and international travel increases aging. But I really love her so it’s worth the cost.

@19th_c_Houston The real issue (the one that "shotspotter gives false positive" tries to circumvent) is this: is it good to have cops respond to gunfire. That can involve stopping innocent people. That is the debate worth having. And that is where opponents ignore the wish of most residents.

I have repeatedly (and politely) tried to engage with any opponent of gun shot detection who talks of "tons of false positives" (often citing a NYC Comptroller Brad Lander report) to simply define what they think a "false positive" is. Crickets. There's something else going on.

@DavidCheesesq @Derridazs How would you define a false positive? In your own words. Then, if you would, look at whichever study you refer to and see how it defines "false positive." Please then let me know if that is how you would conceive of the term. (My point being I think you've been duped.)

Memory resides in the tedium In the slow work of our bodies In the pace of beurocracy In the bones. To the degree that things become effortless, a-corporal, and external to our bodies, our memory fades.

Writing a paper with AI is like snipping open a chrysalis. The butterfly will get out faster, but it probably won’t fly. It’s in the struggle that the strength is formed. It’s in the writing that the learning takes place.

The Tesla full self driving truly made my day a lot less exhausting. From home to Pecos courthouse to Monahans office to Monahans courthouse, back to Monahans office, to Pecos federal courthouse, and now back home. All on 80% charge last night and it’ll be 9% when I get home. $5 worth of electricity.
