My first WSOP event ever
I walk into the Pavillion to 1000s of poker players with such a vivid memory of the sound and that day
I see a crowd watching someone at a nearby table, its DOYLE BRUNSON
It's probably the only time I've been completely star struck, I brought supersystem with the hopes this would happen
I very nervously waited to ask him if he would sign his book, he did it with a smile on his face
And a lifetime memory for me
Every poker player knows the name Doyle Brunson. He's the first name that comes to mind when you ponder the legends of the game and while he had nicknames like "Texas Dolly" and "The Godfather of Poker", he'd probably just call himself a gambler in the truest sense of the word👇
Doyle Brunson compares athletics to tournament poker and places 3rd at the final table. "Texas Dolly" was the first player to win $1M in career earnings at the @WSOP.

Today (10/2) we celebrate “Doyle Brunson Day.” Please enjoy this incredible, never before seen clip from his upcoming documentary. We invite you to share your own favorite @TexDolly stories here ⬇️
I miss @TexDolly and still think about him everyday. He would have been 91 this week.
I once spent 24 hours in a room with Doyle.
Not playing poker, but recording his life story.
Here's how one lunch conversation led to preserving poker history forever:
@ChadAHolloway@TexDolly@PokerNews I just finished listening to it on my drives to the card rooms. The stories are amazing, of course, he lived a one-of-kind life. But hearing it in his voice went straight to the heart.
As we remember Doyle today, don’t miss this award winning tribute to the Godfather of Poker full of amazing stories and heartfelt memories:
