Today, I shared something deeply personal that I have been building over the past two years, The Ungar Center for Hope. Sharing this the day before my dad’s anniversary feels especially meaningful. The Ungar Center for Hope is a first of its kind trauma informed healing and wellness center here in Las Vegas, created to remove the barriers people face when they are just trying to feel better. I wanted to share it here too, because so much of this mission is rooted in my dad, my brother, and everything our family lived through. My father’s story shaped my heart more than anything else. He was brilliant, intuitive, and had a gift that could never be taught, but he also carried pain that was not understood or supported. Growing up, I saw both his light and his struggles, and it taught me early that behind every strong exterior is a human being who needs compassion, not judgment. I started the Ungar Center for Hope because I wanted to build the place I always wished existed, one that removes the hurdles people face when they are just trying to feel better, whether it is long waitlists, high costs, feeling alone, or not knowing where to start. It is something I came to understand in a deeply personal way when I lost my brother to suicide, and I take that into the work I do every day. Support should be accessible in the moment someone needs it, not weeks later, and depending on the waitlist, sometimes months later. I wanted to create a place where multiple healing modalities come together under one roof, so no one has to feel overwhelmed or alone as they navigate their healing journey. This center grew from the healing I walked through in my own life, from the experiences that shaped me, and from the hope I found along my healing journey. My heart is in this work, and my hope is that anyone who walks through our doors feels supported and cared for in the moments they need it most. The Underdog Story of Daniel Negreanu, aka Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu is most famously known for his "reads", which his ability to see the future and read his opponents hands. If you love poker, you probably love Daniel Negreanu, or at least respect him deeply. Daniel Negreanu didn’t start life as a prodigy with a golden path. He was the son of Romanian immigrants, growing up in Toronto with more ambition than structure or means. Each failure threatened to bury him, but each time he returned sharper, more disciplined, more determined. In 1998, after years of grinding and heartbreak, he broke through with his first Poker World Series bracelet. At just 23, the kid from Toronto was suddenly the youngest WSOP champion in history. The world crowned him: Kid Poker. Decades later, the underdog who once couldn’t survive a trip to Vegas has 7 WSOP bracelets, 2 WPT titles, Hall of Fame honors, and over $50M in tournament winnings. Kalshi's fight for prediction markets has followed a similar path. We have failed and been rejected more times than I can remember, but we did not waver in our commitment to the vision.
