As deadline approaches teams need that extra push which could either include more attractive extension options to Panarin to consider another destination and/or a better return from LA or otherwise bc of the timeline/need.

Rangers had no leverage because it was the last year of a contract that has a full NMC. End of story

It’s also apparent Panarin had no intention of re-signing in NY on a team friendly deal based on the previous numbers. Drury maybe shouldn’t put out a letter that reads as open for lowball offers. It’s a bad trade
